i have been thinking about getting a 6wheeler,but i was wanting to know if there were any down sides to getting one, or what i should expect from one.Also, i cant decided on wether i should get a argo or a max. I want something to play in the mud with,and i want to be able to hunt with it.do you'll have any advice? |

If you have narrowed your choices down to Argo and Max both are well supported with replacement parts and owners with experience working on them. Have you driven either of them and do you have a dealer or source of parts and service? Both are capable machines. The best advice I can give is to go for a drive/ride in both brands and in their different models and see which one you prefer. |

Don't let your expectations of a machine exceed the capabilities of the machine. Read this board and use the search feature. You may find answers to some of the questions that you might have. If shopping the used market, expect to spend a lot of time looking and asking questions so that you don't buy someone else's problems. If you are mechanically minded, it's a plus. Many states don't allow 6x6's on their ATV trails because of their size, width and weight. Check the laws in your state to see if they are allowed or need to be licensed or registered. If you intend to hunt in the swamps or in heavily wooded land where there are no trails to drive on, a smaller width and length machine is best to get through or over obstacles. Most importantly, don't cheat on repairs and maintenance of your machine. It can take you miles deep into the back country in a short time. If it breaks down and you are w/o the tools, parts or the know how to fix, it can mean a long walk out or never coming out at all. Having a winch on the machine makes it easier to extract yourself in most cases. As to an Argo or a Max. There is plenty of opinion on this board as to what is better/worse. Drive both if you can, talk to owner's of both if someone around your area has them. Both are good machines, each has it pros and cons. It depends a lot on what is available in your market area, new or used, condition and price. Where are you located? Maybe someone reading this board lives close to your area and could help you decide with a ride or drive in their brand of machine. Buying a top of the line machine can be just as bad/good as buying an entry level machine. Decide what you need from a machine and again don't let your expectations exceed the machine's capabilities. |
