My neighbor just put a 3cyl suzuki motor inhis 6x6 argo. Runs fantastic once he put in a tripple core rad. He only had to cut about 4x4" out of the top to get it in. Fast and reliable, plus he has heat to keep warm. Has me considering doing the same. if I can find a good eal with no motor. |

can you tell us more about this suzuki motor. Where did it come out of? How did you put a variable drive on? What about weight? |

I just finished doing a job (well, almost) on my 6X6 with a suzuki motor (993cc). I put in the automatic transmission as well (I decided with was less time comsumming then figuring out a CVT for it). A tight fit but heres a link to the a pic of it. The engine and transmission can be put in by two people. http://199.126.216.230:81/pictures/Pics-05-07-05/images/Untitled-29.jpg http://199.126.216.230:81/pictures/Pics-05-07-05/images/Untitled-30.jpg http://199.126.216.230:81/pictures/Pics-05-07-05/images/Untitled-28.jpg http://199.126.216.230:81/pictures/Pics-05-07-05/images/Untitled-27.jpg Beeman |

I have a chevy sprint. I parked it 8yrs ago cause the cv joints went out. The trans slipped also so I never fixed it. Good little motor, though. It had 190,000 miles on it and still ran like a top. Never got ride of it cuz of the motor. |

Hah.. yeah, she looks all motor.. (and is!). Gotta figure out how to get the old seat back in! the 993cc engine can be out of a 86-9X (probably 94) sprint, firefly or geo. 86-89 are regular carbs, but 89 and on are throttle body injection (which is what I put in). The engine works great and probably has an average life of up to 220,000kms (from what I noticed, thats when they start burning oil). I haven't quite gotten everything together yet (wiring).. but I was planning on hooking up with a chain to my origional transmission (to reverse the direction coming off the motor cause it's in backwards), so we'll see how she stays on. If that doesn't work I might just belt it. No road trips as of yet.. just gonna play around in the rockies. It's a prarie bobcat (something that is not very popular that I've seen..). I picked it up for $500, got rid of the engine in it for $300USD and the sprint I got the parts out of cost me $400. So.. not too back for the increase in power. I'll post pics when I get it out trial rideing. |

Thought I'd just add that I think I broke something on the automatic transmission - took her out yesterday to try for the first time.. clunking from a loose chain, but TONS of power and quick acceleration (was funny to feel the "shift" into second).. unfortunatly, I've got something not working on the auto tran. Won't go into gear (but I didn't hear a snap or grinding.. so I think it's electrical) BeeMan |

Well, I got her running. Finally! But, I unnfortunatly crashed it into a telephone pole while testing it out in the back ally.. I think I was going a bit too fast for the space I was in!! LOL. Don't worry, I'm starting to devise a plan on how I can fix it up quickly! -BeeMan Link: http://www.4wheeler.ca/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=20497 If anybody wants the full story for changing out the old engine and putting in the 1 liter engine goto: http://199.126.216.230:81/Frazer/vehicles/vehicles.htm and click on prarie bobcat!! |

Prarie Bobcat doesn't look very glamorous, unlike my Amphicat Anyway best of luck in getting it all going. Looks like it will be awesome with that much horsepower and a decent tranny. Reminds me of the Land Tamer I've read about with a 1.4L or so Nissan motor and tranny |

I have a 99 conquest with a 3 cyl chev sprint installed. It was done before I got it. I did add a big fan that I got from an auto wrecker on the right side to move air through the engine compartment. In the winter I don't turn on the fan and I get good heat from the engine. It runs good and lots of power. I don't use any more fuel than the original 20 hp. |
