To remove a inner shaft bearing on a 1998 MAX IV, you need to use a small screw jack like the ones used on an older Toyota truck. Remove the control rods so that the channel down the center of the frame is empty. Lay the jack on it's side and place a socket between the jack head and the end of the axle you are removing and turn the jack's screw until it makes contact with the axle end. Now just screw the jack and watch the axle be pushed out. Using this method, you should not damage the bearing.
