Has anyone modified their Max II to allow easier access to the engine, trans, and chains??? Currently, I have to remove all of the nuts holding the two pieces of the body together, remove the winch, and remove the rollbar to get complete access to the inside. I want easier access to perform maintenance such as lubing chains. Thanks! |

Robert, There is no easy way to get into a Max II. you shouldn't have to remove the winch or the rollbar if they are factory issue. Just pull the pin that holds the floor pan down and remove the seat/floor pan being careful to not break your throttle lever. Pull the two pins that hold the rollbar to the frame, remove the wing nuts on both sides and the back (use the front nuts as the hinge). Lift it up from the back and use the supplied tubing to hold it open. Ease of getting to the inside is one of the many reasons that I prefer the Max IV. |

i have sean some maxII vehicles modefyed for easy acsess to engine, they cut out the inside of rear cargo area, this gives you acsess to engine area. they then add a wooden deck with bolts and wingnuts securing it so deck can be esaly removed in the feild. im sometimes tempted myself but have bin able to resist till now, because theres no undoing this mod! laitly though i have bin wondering "what if i atached the old cut out piece to underside of the deck and then put my signiture hatch in the deck." then id still have my neato trunk and better acsess to drive train, better yet the uper body wouldent be opened so often and maybe once and forall i can get the body sealed up tight. currently im down to 2 lousy wingnuts! mudd just pores into the body between uper and lower because it is not tightly sealed. so maybe i should hack it up as above. |

David, I've thought about cutting out the inside of the rear cargo area and reattaching using hinges or brackets, but you are correct, the mod is irreversible. I too would like to replace the rubber seal between the two body pieces, but I have been reluctant since I have to keep separating the two pieces everytime I want to do some maintenance. Hmmm.... |
