Anyone running their Attex with rawhides? I like the idea of longer life and good traction off road. The machine is not pushed hard and is used on gravel and in the woods. I don't plan to go in the water. I am concerned about the weight and harder ride, not so much for my comfort but what it will do to the axles and machine. Any thoughts, recommendations or experiences?

have a new set of axels made for this heavy duty purpes, theres a few schools of thought on this, one sugests use of chrom moly, the stuff hydralic pistons are made from, another sugests normal steal used with rockwell type hardening done on it after axel is made, when hardend to say same as automotive axel hardness the heaver and harder tire/rim asembles shouldent harm them,
but yes your oridganals equipment were made for light low psi tires,
don't use them with the heavy and harder tires, |

Thanks for the reply. That sounds like a project for the future, on the dream list it goes along with getting tracks. I'll go with new chevrons for now. I've got 7 of the old one piece 3 bolts (1 in unused condition) but I want a path for replacement tires and from what I can see that means 5 bolts and rims. I'll place the order this week.

well ok then , which rawhides? rawhide 2 or rawhide 3?
i do use the rawhide 2 cheverons with tubess inside them to keep them on the bead and still run at 2.5 psi this proves safe enoph for the tubes and not too bad on your back,
also i put 1/2" screws threw the rims at bead to keep the tires from turning on the rimm wich would ruin the tubes,
the rawhide 3's look verry nice but are too hard and will bend your axels,
but ether way yes you need adapters, i bought "weld on hub's" from recreatives and had machine shop drill them with the old three bolt pateren so they fit axels,
you can get the same things already done from ritchard clark |

Sorry, didn't know there was a rawhide 2 and 3. I am going to order a tire/wheel/adapter package from Richard. We were talking about the chevrons and rawhides (first row pic's on his site under tires). I am leaning towards the conservative side and going with the chevrons for this go around until I get a better feel for the limitations of the machine and myself! Thanks for sharing your experience.

ok rawhide 2's are 21" wich is ok for the attx,
depending on your body style 22" rawhide 3's look great as well, but they will require a reworked set of axels,
the best bet is the real deal rims(rims) are the best money can buy, better to pay for rims once and not have to get a second set later,
