I think I'm going to add an electric fuel pump to my MaxIV 18HP Vanguard. The trick is how to do it safely.

I would think a vacuum switch that controls the power to the pump would be a safe manner of adding this feature. It would be at least as safe as the present vacuum pump that is in the vehical.

Has anyone tried this or should I just engineer and post the results?

another thing to look into is a fule preshure regulater, autozone has them for low psi adjustable from 1/2 to whatever you like, so 1.5 lbs psi is posable with the regulater, aprox $20.00, also saw a smal fule psi gage for $20,00
got both and will some day put them together with a fule pump myself to see how it works,

bosch manufacture an electric pulse activate relay..used on k-jetronic fuel injection automotive system....when spark flows during engine turning the the k-jetronic relay close the circuit and electric fuel pummp start to work...as soon as spark stop (due to engine stop or killing switch)this relay return to open position and fuel pump stops..........

I successfully installed the pump. It is a Mistubishi made pump and it works very well. As the bowl fills, the pump starts to slow and then stops until it is required to draw again. Had no problems on inclines which would have stalled out before. Using 2 galvanized 2" corner brackets, the pump actually fit exactly where the old pump was. I used the existing bolts to attach to the engine. The wires were then run to tie in on the ignition switch. We originally tried it on an open circuit on the block, but found out that the block recieves constant power.
With the better draw, I as well used a larger fuel filter with finer paper.
All in all, $100 well spent for me.
