Tim I suggest a DID Hoist chain. Incredible strength. Also oring type fpr severe duty use. Buy at a bearing outlet and save money over Dealer cost. Big Mike I hope this helps you out. Nice atv Site Guys. |

tim, if you search for the US TUBASAKI webb site, they could direct you to a chain supplier close to you. they could also recommend a match close to your chain need. check out the condition of your sprockets as they could take from your new chain if badly worn. if you buy the chain in a one length roll as opposed to a prepackaged unit from a dealer you will save a bundle in the process. also RC has a good lesson on chain care in the tips section of this site. |

HEY MAN!! your problem is NOT in the T-20 trans. but in your total lack of knowing what it IS YOU ARE DRIVING!!What brand IS your 8X8?It surely isn't a MAX...since they don't make an 8X8 ....yet.This is important!!If it is an ARGO you either have a chain(highly doubtfull) or more than likely a differential problem. Then again, you might need to just check all your drive train links....something might just be broke such as a cable or perhaps "brake line" depending on your particular machine.A T-20 does not "just quit" like that. Also it is not on any KNOWN 8X8 that I have ever heard of..yet.It sounds to me like you might own the "indistructable ARGO" brand AATV but atleast you can download the manuel(s) in PDF format. The transmissions REQUIRE rebuilding around 250 hrs. of use if I remember correctly. They are a GREAT machine BUT LIKE ALL...have their drawbacks. The T-20 can go ATLEAST 3 TIMES longer than an ARGO tranny without a rebuild...even under extreme/severe conditions which includes the regular "know it all..stupid driver". What is the make and model of your AATV? |

Dude...I can't afford CRACK!!You didn't get my point.Even though a tranny may go for many many years without trouble...this is what I READ IN AN ARGO MANUEL.Why so soon,I wouldn't have a clue as to why that was printed in there. However I DO KNOW that without changing out the pads on the ARGO tranny...a T-20 could easily go much, much farther. The average of "3 times longer" is just THAT!I have a little more than "a clue" as to what I am saying.I like ARGO 6X6 and 8X8s and would like to have the new Conquest 6X6 but I'm waiting for either a hydrostatic or "T-20 varient" to be released by ODG before I spend that much money. As I have mentioned above...with a twist, there are many instances where the ARGO tranny has outlasted a T-20 but this all really depends on upkeep, and driving conditions, right. The name is JOHN..not JON....now give me back my crack man!!!I have to agree with you on one thing..to an extent...I KNOW (NOT.."now") less than the guy above me....and above me again.LOL. I am glad we all have a good bit of humor here. The 4X4 ATV boards sure don't where AATV's are most definately not a good topic,in the least. |

john, You are still smokin' crack. argo trannys do not have "pads". they do have break pads that cost 22 bucks that need changed every 500 hours or so, but no pads inside. this is the most discussion on the argo tranny that has probably happened on the history of this board, unlike the t-20, every day their is someone with a t-20 problem, why dont you post or mail a picture of this so called argo manual stating the tranny needs rebuilt. odg produces argos as a sideline to their main business of 60 years, GEARS and TRANMISSIONS! they built a reliable and the longest lasting transmission in the aatv market. |

The fact that ARGO trannys don't need much repair proves that they are better. The T-20 sounds like something I don't want to deal with. Too much maintnence. |

When you're adjusting the chains, make sure all 3 wheels are off the ground on the side you are working on. Rotate the tires until you find the tight spot and adjust from there. If you adjust the loose spot, things will break if its too tight. Believe me!!! :) |

http://argo-world.com/includes/ArgoOpMan%20-Rev%206%20May%2001.pdf Here you go...you asked for it so I will give you a link.Look at Section 7,page 45.There you will see at the 250 hr mark..."service the clutch units" listed. What are those?Well that is IN THE TRANSMISSION!!This coming FROM ODG.How would you get to the units...open up the tranny which in turn would mean new gaskets, seals, etc. and clutch packs of course. This is in most cases a REBUILD.I meant BRAKE pads...these things don't use Kotex pads. Then again you think I'm on crack...okay,I see what you might have thought. |

john, the clutch units are what the belt goes around. one is on the outside of the tranny, the driven clutch, the other is on the crank shaft of the motor. note they are not on the inside of the tranny, they are on the outside, easily removed by unscrewing one bolt. poor guy.. both can be removed and reinstalled in 5 minutes without rebuilding anything. as you stated above, "what are those?" referring to the clutch units, if you dont know what they are how do you know where they are? again, all that is inside an argo tranny is metal gears and gear lube, I hope you have finally figured this out. |

John The clutches are located outside of the tranny. One is attached to the engine output shaft, and the other to the outside of the tranny. Russ |
