i have goodyear 26 inch tires on 12 inch wheels what can i do to stop the rim from spinning inside the tire ? i dont want to use screws what kind of sealer can i use thanks |

Brian, 1st off, I would dismount them and make sure there is no gravel, grit, etc. in the bead area. I would wash them with soap and water and get rid of all the lubricant used to mount them. I would make sure there are no rough spots on the rim in the bead seat area (rust, glob of paint or gouged metal sticking out. If there is anything, sand and repaint them. Then I would use just plain water to mount them.
If that didn't work, I would use Elmer's latex caulk (comes in a squeeze bottle, goes on white drys clear). I get it on the bead edge and on the sidewall (I do this with the tire mounted, using my finger to make sure I have plenty of stuff right in the ridge where the bead seats (smallest diameter part of the rim)). After inflating them to set the bead, I deflate them enough to deflect the side wall and put caulk in on the sidewall (don't break the bead seal). Then I inflate them to 2 1/2 PSI and go around the rim with the caulk filling any dry pocket. Let them sit until the stuff turns clear (24 or so hours). You should be good to go. |

fred i dismounted them . somebody before me has used some type of black sealer it s not permatex it stays sticky.i guess it some sort of sealant to make the bead pop . gas wouldnt take it off i guess ill have to use laquer thinner. have you ever seen this stuff? |

Have no idea what it might be, but sounds like whatever it is, that is your problem. Good luck in getting it off and cleaned up. |

I have had good luck on jeep tires using silicone RTV you put it on then air it up to seat the bead. it holds like glue and if you want to remove it it dissolves in gasoline, just wipe it off the rim. Just as a point of reference we would air our tires down to about 5psi for trail use. |
