Speed varies by model. The fastest is the Max IV 25hp with 26" tires at about 35mph. The fastest Argo is the Bigfoot at about 24mph. Where we go, you don't need speed. MaxRules |

Todays machines with modern 4 cycle engine will run from 18mph (MAX BUFFALO) to about 25mph Yesterdays machines like the ATTEX 500 SuperChief would run over 50mph I have both: An original 500 SC and a newish MAX 4 cycle both have their place but the 4 cycle machine is much more useable. Hope this helps Sam Keys |

inspecotr01 ...! Older AATV'S with 2Stroke engines are faster by far than today's 4Stroke machines. In the mid 70's ATTEX made a limited number of AATV'S with a THREE Cylinder 600cc 2Stroke in it. These machines were reportedly clocked at 90 MPH on the race course at Ashtabula Ohio. Even today SOME ATTEX 400cc and 440cc machines that came with a JLO twin cylinder 2Stroke installed ... ARE ... capable of generating 40+ horse power and will top out in the low 70's. Only problem is finding someone with large enough nads to operate a skid steer vehicle at that speed ... WITH A BIG POCKET FULL OF CASH TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT OF THE VEHICLE ... IF HE SURVIVES AFTER HE LOSES CONTROL. jt :) |

I just bought a Chief with the JLO 400. I would imagine that 40mph would be my top speed. I'm guessing that the 400's and 440's while powerful, would need to have some work done to reach speeds of 70mph, no? Right now my little Colt gets close to 30mph (and the engine is rated at only 10 hp) and when I'm going that fast, I can't help but think "what would happen if one of my chains broke and tangeled right now?" Like JT said, "Big Nads!!" |

George's comment from 2005 is so funny. Took a few years, but he definitely knows how to crank his 4 stroke & 2 stroke up a knotch. He just needed more practice in wide open spaces. Kinda fun finding posts from people you know from 12 years ago. |
