the real answer to your question: is FUN. how much do you want, how often, and for how long? the more fun you want the more your gonna pay.odg, and ri also know this,as does honda, kawasaki, polaris, etc.a little 2 wheeldrive 4 wheeler 3grand. a big ol 4 wheel drive 4 wheeler.6 +.so it all comes down to how much for how much. cash=fun. the more you pay the more you play. look at the prices of and old jeep,or or blazer, bronco etc.and yes i know you can drive them on the road and do lots of off roading. how ever with a 6 or 8 wheeler you can go places that these vehicles will never go,and carry just as many people. all i had was a nickle does any one have change for my 2cents worth.

They aren't cheap, but mine has probably saved my SUV from being a crash victim. Before I got the argo I wanted to mod the Pathfinder. Lift kit, winch bumpers, lockers... now I park the SUV and bounce off trees and rocks in a polyethylene shell that doesn't need new sheet metal and paint.

Roger
I have the same deal here too. I had a nice pickup all set up for off road use. I got into 6 wheelers and have barely had a truck off road.
I traded the P/U for an Excursion and it has only been on light trails and had no suspension mods...I think my wife would string me up if I told her I just bought a lift kit for it.
Anyway I love my bigfoot and I have more fun in it than in my truck anymore.

Looking to spend just 4000$ Do what I did, buy a reconditioned Max II machine from Richard Clark owner of this site. My machine was close to new, better than new in many ways including price. I was so happy we even went back and bought a Hustler from him. I do not understand why everyone does not.

Email me if you wish

why are they so expensive to buy or build up?
simple they are specialty vehicles, amphibous skid steers ( no akermans allowed!). besides you have the bragging rights..... you own a 6x6!

the japanese tried to kill them with 3 wheelers, failed, then 4 wheelers, failed again! goes to show you, ya just can't out do north american maucho guy's.....stuff.

AATV's are expensive?... Snowmobiles carry TWO people.... so assume you settle for four people transport that runs around $5000 for the very basic of machines...or $10,000. ATVs are mostly single seaters but this year some TWO seaters have appeared. so again $5000 for each... $10,000 for two. Then you have a basic boat. $2000. And if you are not willing to spring for a Jeep Rubicon just to do some serious off roading... you end up putting a lot into a standard 4x4 just to go seriously off road. I got my Argo Conquest...can comfortably carry four people in snow, on rock, in water, on the Rubicon Trail for far less than it would cost to buy individual machines. So I am not as fast as a snowmobile in the snow, or an ATV in the dirt or a boat in the water.... but I can go ANYWHERE with a single machine vs doubles for some of the other types. Less cost for insurance as it is only ONE machine, less season variations as it never goes into storage, less total parts to buy...etc. So as a SINGLE machine it may appear expensive, but overall you save a bundle going with an AATV.

I agree with Dave and Mike . the only dust my Argo gets on it is the dust from riding it .The only times I'm not out riding it , is when I'm a t work or sleeping . Ok or online writing my thoughts in here.

FUN NOTE!... I had a friend buy a H2 and he said maybe we could go off roading together....boy am I going to have fun. I am either going to get him to chicken out (for fear of rolling over or for denting his $50,000 car)...or I am going to lead him into a trap. There ain't no way that over priced moose is going to go where I can. Besides the obvious WATER ability...I think the ability I have to do a 90 degree turn is going to be the deciding factor. I will definitely let you know how it turns out. But in regards to 6x6s or 8x8s being expensive, just PRICE a H2...
