Has anyone thought of putting a ramp and support frame in back of pickup for hauling a six wheeler. I just bought an old Terra Tiger, got it running last night and am toying with this idea. Would enable me to use the space under the frame for hauling decoys and such. Some thoughts, maybe. |

I hauled my Superchief 450 miles on a support frame made from 2x4's. My Chevrolet truck has flat spots inside the bed to make a platform. You should be able to support your Terra-Tiger with 2x4s. I used 3 2x4's across the bed and a pair of them on each side to support the machine. I also added legs under the wood to add some more strength. It took me less than 30 minutes to build it and it worked great. I backed the truck to a hillside to load it. |

Jerry, ARGOs are made to fit into the bed of a full size bed of a pick-up with ramps over the wheel wells, you just may have to adjust the width or yours to fit the machine. I have seen a couple ARGOs being loaded onto the bed of a pick up and im glad it wasn't me driving the ARGO, damb near smashed that back window that trucks have. (Im pretty sure the MAX aatvs can fit in the bed of the trucks too, they look small enough but im not sure.) |

If you figure a pick up truck LONG BED is 8 feet long, and the tail gate is 2 feet, a four wheel ARGO will fit. A SHORT BED of 6 feet however would require 2 feet of the ARGO to hang over the tail gate. If you BACK the ARGO onto the bed, the weight distribution will put the majority of the ARGO weight on the tailgate. Not a good idea. If you put the ARGO on front in, as you come over the wheel wells, the ARGO will "dive" in the front and that can take out your rear window. I think the best combination would be the SIX WHEEL ARGOS with a long bed pick up. The ARGO will fit inside the bed and you should be able to close the tail gate. I myself just use a trailer. |

I have thought abought making an extension to my tail gate that hooks into my receiver hitch even making a fold down ramp welded to it. Pitcure using the last two ft of a utility trl and ramp. |

If you are putting an ARGO into the bed of a long bed pick up the best way is to build a platform over the wheel wells so the ARGO sits level in the back - You run your ramps up to these platforms and the ARGO will sit better- I strongly recommend putting an anchor hook in the front of your box and using the winch to pull the argo up the ramp onto the truck- The ramps have to be quite steep to reach the back of the truck unless you have folding ramps, as the argo goes up the the ramp it will drop down and as noted above, can take out the back window- Also, when you taking the ARGO off the truck you are up quite high unloading- safer to have the cable hooked to something and winch it off or just push it off- An 8 wheeler will hang out just enough that the tailgate on some trucks won't close- with the ARGO sitting on platforms over the wheel wells, the body clears the tailgate enough so it will shut properly |
