I have a 5x8 trailer I purchased from Lowes last year, and I was wondering if it would do the job for my Max II. Its made of angle iron, and it has wire mesh floors. I plan to add some pressure treated 2x6 planks for the Max II. It has small 12 inch tires, but the tires and trailer are rated to 2,000 pounds. I think I paid around $5-600 for it. Do you think its strong enough to do the job? Weight: Max II: 670 Me: 170 Trailer:400 Total: 1240 pounds |

The trailer will have no problem towing the weight. I don't recommend that you ride in the trailer while it is being towed, though. :) You bigggest challenge will be getting the Max to fit between the sides of a 5 foot trailer. I have a 5x6 that I haul mine in, and wish that I had a 6x10. I have to remove the sides to get the Max to fit in, and only have about 1" of clearance between the fenders. |

Bud, I have about 1.5-2 inches on each side of the max when loaded in the trailer. Its a snug fit. After my mods, the trailer weights about 600 pounds, and the max weighs about 700. That's about 1300 pounds on a 2000 pound rated trailer. So far so good. I plan to haul it about 200 miles this weekend, and I'm pretty confident it will do the job. |

Well, the trailer did just fine. Actually, it did much better than expected with no problems whatsoever. It pulled straight and easy. I do wish the trailer had as much clearance as my truck so I could drag it through some big holes on the ranch. I guess I'll have to go around them for now. |
