Yes you can disconnect the front chains so that you are only using two. Last I heard, the Track Max is no longer offered my RI.

There would be less stress on the machine. If the tires are not exactly the same diameter, the tires will try to slip in the tracks and if they don't slip easy, the chain, axles and bearings take the abuse. I have no experience with tracks on a machine, but that's my $.02.

Sure there is a way to repair. You can use just about anything made out of hdpe and use a plastic welder or soldering iron and melt/weld the new material in. If you need it to match you can use some material cannibalized from an inconspicious part of the body.

can you tell us the model year of the maxIV?
what is the nature of body damage?
kit's are available for the very old A.B.S. type bodys.
and as Jerry Nuss has said in above post you can weld up polyethilin (HDPE) bodys.
if you suspect that it is a very old max than try an asatone soaked rag agenced the plastic for about 2 minuits in an out of the way part of the body, (if aprox 30 years old)
(you dont want to leave a mark)
if the plastice softens it is A.B.S.
if nothing happens it is H.D.P.E.
