Hi All I took my wife and her 3 sisters for a ride this weekend in the Avenger. Great ride after it quit snowing. I had to remove the snow off the window quite often. A REAL PAIN! I just called a Argo dealer and was told that for my 1st born child and a years salary I could buy a wiper system. Is there any kit that anyone knows of that is not so expensive for a single motor and wiper blade combo? Ron |

Thanks Mike I was wondering about the added weight of any wiper system on the windshield in the down position. I would think that a support should be added to the middle section of the hood for added strenght or the window might crack or break. What do you think? |

it's a pretty light motor. If its to heavy I think I will put some quick electrical disconects on it to remove it. never thought about that thanks. |

Ron, My friend bought a hand powered boat windshield wiper for several of us on the internet. I removed the factory installed plug from my windshield and threaded the chrome wiper unit in in about 1 minute. It works great so far. Don't know where you could buy one but could post up a pic in a few days. |

Hi Philip That would take care of the weight issue some. I was also thinking about how much a person would really use a wiper. The last trip was the only time so far and the one you described might be a good fit. Please post some pics. Thanks |

The hand wiper is a perfect fit I had one on my CONQUEST now on my AVENGER. When going through the bush after a snow the low hanging branches drop snow on the windshield when you brush against them this is a big reason for one.The new ARGO's only require one hand to drive now so you can use your other hand to wipe if you can keep the kids from doing it first.Check out ebay seller name boaterbits he is from CANADA and the wiper is very good quality.Or just type in hand wiper it will come up in an auction or ebay store.I will see if I can find a pic of it installed on my machine and post. |

I have a hand wiper on my Conquest that I purchased from JC Whitney. I use it all the time, works great, easy to install. I went with it as I thought it would be less of a hassle to install and would have fewer problems. Plus if you have someone riding with you it gives them something to do. |

Hi Ron, I will not be able to post a pic for a week or so but Gearhead's cousin got mine for me. I hope that he or Utah Brian wil post a pic for us. Nice not to have the motor there day after day for the few wipes that you need the wiper. Gearhead, I am looking forward to another ride at your place. |

Ron, Sorry I'm late getting back to you, I didn't check the site yesterday. The one I have from JC Whitney is the 14" and is item #ZX811299R and it's $24.99. I also saw an 12 volt electric one for a jeep that may be the one Mike has - item # ZX504607XF. They wanted $44.95 for it. If you go to jcwhitney.com and type in wiper for the search you'll find both of these. |

If I had read all the messages I missed instead of just the last one which Ron posted I would have included these pictures with the last post. I went out to to the Argo Trailer and took a couple pictures, no beautiful Utah mountain scenery, just the inside of the trailer. They're not very good pictures. If there is something specific you want let me know and I'll retake. |

Hello Brian,Interesting that there are so many different approaches to the job of wiping your windshield. Another member of this board agreed with your thoughts about needing a center windshield support. Len Cater has a good picture in his profile if you are interested. What is the fist sized shiny object between the second and third dome snaps to the left looking at the outside of your windshield? |

Phillip, that "shinny" object really isn't shinny, it's black but it's the suction cup mount for a digital compass that is mounted on the inside of the Argo. It doesn't get hit mounted up high. I should also mention I remember a discussion concerning the wiper mounted low on the cowl that when the guy who did this wanted to open his hood all the way he had to remove the wiper arm. |

I highly recommend a middle support for the windshield. After breaking multiple windshields, I figured it must have been the flexing. I picked up a replacement windshield support, cut it down and mounting it slightly off-centre. Have not broken a windshield since. As for the wiper, I really like the below the windshield idea provided it still allows the windshiel to fold down. |

I'll probably get the support. wow hard to believe a 14oz weight could break the windshield. it's very light.

I was going to mount mine on the bottom as well. I had mine mounted on the bottom on my max. But anytime I had a passenger and had to sit on the side, I had a hard time seeing because my eyes were near the top of the winshield. So I had to duck my head. the wiper doesn't clear the top corners very well. On another note, I am having a hard time posting the pics. they say they are to large. I have the camera set on the lowes setting. |

Mike, you need to open your picture in a program that lets you resize it or shrink it. I have the most success by resizing to 400 by 300 pixels. I think that Mr. Cater is saying that we should mount a center support for driving through the bush with the windshield folded down. Not just because we have mounted a wiper. I suggest that you go to Len's Profile and see the picture, |

Hi All Been out of town on a job. Just checked the site when I get a chance. This could get really confusing with all the options that are out there for kits. Brian I will check the wipers out on the Whitney site. Thanks |
