When I am out riding along the local trails I am often suprised what I find or see along the way. Normally I see a lot of turtles and snakes. I also find a lot of discarded underwear??? Deer and raccoon are also a common sighting. Turkey are seen frequently. Two days ago I was headed down a trail at one of my favorite riding spots and in the middle of the trail was a black furry mass. I got out and looked at it and it was a pile of six puppies. Great! I didn't see any other dogs around and there was no human dwelling for a good distance. So I was looking around thinking what to do when I saw an over turned carboard box. It was what I had suspected the puppies had been dumped. So I scooped them up and took them home. Now I'm trying to find them a home. At home I had 5 of them in a kennel and was carrying one of them when my wife pulled into the drive. It just happened to be her birthday, so thinking quickly I told her "Happy Birthday" while holding the puppy out to her. She asked "who's dog is that?" I responded yours! She was not amused. So it looks like I'll be heading to the Humane Society tomorrow. I really hate doing that. I'd like to take the Argo out this afternoon for a ride but suddenly I have become afraid what I will find next. |

It is a shame that people have lost compassion for animals as well as each other! One would think that the dumpees would have gone to the Humane Society rather than let those little pups suffer. Don't let their lack of fortitude ruin the joy of riding, or the good things observed out of doors. Kudos to you for having what the dumpees don't, compassion! |
