I checked into it but did not look at it or drive it. The Ebay ad does not mention the hole in the lower body and the Ebay ad says approximately 40 hours and on another listing it says 80 hours. It may just be a typo or honest mistake but was enough for me to shy away. With the hole it would not be water tight and without being water tight it would be difficult to check the seals and gaskets for integrity which could show bad seals, bad gaskets, and worn axles. Below is the cut and past listing from two different ads and an e-mail communication. "2000 ARGO Response for sale. 80 hours on machine. $4250.00 OBO. Machine located in Central Illinois." "It swims OK with the upgraded tires but not great. I put an outboard motor mount on it and have used a 10 Hp gas as well as a trolling motor. Frame looks good mainly shops paint with very little if any rust. I have not had any problem with leaking. All chains and bearings are original. Bearings and chains have been serviced twice a year. It has a cut in the lower plastic in the front. I hit a piece of steel hidden in grass in the backwaters of the Illinois River. I understand from looking at Route 6X6.com that the plastic can be welded. I am in Decatur, IL" "2000 Argo Response for sale. 18 hp Briggs & Stratton motor. Saddle bag for seat back. Front tow hook. Outboard motor mount. Upgraded to Rawhide ii tires. Green in color. Approx 41 hours on unit. I reserve right to end auction early. Machine is for sale locally. Email with any questions" |

I made him an offer for cash in his hand tomorrow but it looks like he sold it to someone already. No one wants MaxRules to own an Argo. Don't worry guys, you won't convert me to the dark side. I have a '91 Max IV with a 20hp Kohler and 26" tires that was ready to go head to head with an Argo 8x8. MaxRules |

Yea, I see where he's made two different corrections to his ad. It's 9:16 PM Central right now and he hasn't ended his ad as of yet on eBay. That may not mean much. Well, just wanted to share what looked like a too good to be true deal and it sure turned out to be. Perhaps this thread can remain open for members to share info on "ridiculous" deals. The moderators obviously don't have a problem with the intent. I guess they'll allow it as long as folks don't try to turn it into a classified's section. Of course, they can always just refuse to post anything that resembles an ad. |

Brandon wants to go head to head with an argo 8? Ok, you win in the mudhole, but how are you going to climb what I climb and keep the rubber side down, hehe. |
