It seems the AATV world is seeing a big slow down once again. I am not the only one to notice lack of interest as well as little or no posts about new vehicles. Bad economy or lost interest? |

( Brandon ) Yeah,,I have also been noticing for a while now,, that the postings have really dropped off? I love reading all the various exploits these awesome 6x6 vehicles can go through,,but,,not much to read lately? Since you are now considering starting up a new Max dealership in your area,,,does this mean you might be driving a Max IV 25T in the future some time soon? |

Brandon I started a similar topic on here back in August. The post ran until November. People had a large number of perceptive reasons as to why, but when it all boils down, I see fewer and fewer new people and more and more late model machines being posted on E-bay. Russ |

Lack of innovative technology and ridiculous prices. I love my Max's and have spoken to RI about some changes that I believe would make the machines gain more market acceptance but they just say that it is to costly. RI, to make money you need to spend some! You can't rely on high prices amoung the faithful to sustain your business. Oh well, they don't listen. |

Guys, Maybe it's lime my problem. No place to ride. New laws are being passed every day that forces you out of more & more riding places. I don't have a large plot of land to ride on & the cheap land is 3-6 hours away. Not something you can just get up & go do. People's interest change & if the economy's weak & they have a $2-4000 machine sitting there doing nothing..... My family & I are still into them, wish I had the TIME & place to ride. |

Well I have lots of opinions on this subject ; 1st price of these atv's,are rather cheep compared to other hobbies , such as Harly Davidson, or old cars . And about equal in cost to be serious in most other hobbies . My next door neighbor has more money invested in his sharp shooting rifle than I have invested in my Argo Bigfooot . The fact of the matter is to activly participate in any serious hobby or sport it will cost you . the question is how much do you want to spend? |

i missed creeking in a max!!! i've have however creeked in an argo.....and that to was fun.yeah bigkodiak you did a fine job on that thread.i almost got my hiney in deep doodoo with the rest of the people on this post. brandon,i wouldn't know you if i pulled you out of mudhole, how ever i've heard and read ALOT about you.but i can tell you one things for sure, people aren't posting because their riding and don't have time for route6x6.ok 1 guy namely me.kush,i don't have any land except my own back yard basically 2 lots.i drive about 189 miles round trip to ride.and i do it almost every weekend.i have riden alone,in small groups, and in somewhat large groups.i am beginning to think the smaller groups are more fun.i don't think its how much you ride or with who you ride.it's just that YOU ride.when you can, where you can.and when your done get on here and tell everyone you did.i have not riden my bigfoot for the last 2 weeks, because i trashed a bearing, and a sprocket.and my parts haven't come in yet.now for the bad news, any of you that have read any of these threads must know by now that i have to sell my bigfoot.not because i am tired of it or bored with.the reason is not important.what is important however,is that i WILL have another one. and i will still come to the rides that i can attend( maybe some one can use a passenger/navigator)and i will still read and write on this post.you are all great bunch of people, some i know, some i don't.we all have 1 common bond, and it is AATV'S.6 or 8 wheels, max or argo,or whatever brand you own.we are the envy of the offroader,we get the looks, the questions, and the respect of all offroaders.we all rule and we better know it. |

Lots of good suggestions for improvement in this topic. I've talked about the old technology of the 6x6s with many people. From the ouside, these are just about the same vehicles as what they sold 30 years ago. After being a big fan of these machines for ten years now, I see the vast improvements in quality and durability. I have a Max brochure from about '97 that offers me a new Max II for only $4495. Now I need to spend about $7000 on a Max II. Big difference in price, but that Max in '97 was hardly worth buying, and barely worth over 4G's. Today for $7000 I can get a Max that will be dependable for many years thanks to the numerous design improvements. Parts prices are very reasonable and most can be bought from an auto parts or tractor supply store. Parts for quads are priced according to their weight in gold. Aside from just paying for them, few people can even fix the high tech parts used on them. The thing that burns me everytime is when I need a special tool for a simple fix. I used to complain about spending $160 to replace all the outer bearings in my Max because they began leaking. I spend at least that much every couple of riding hours on my quad. It would be nice to keep this thing going for under $200 a year like my Max. It's not going to happen with the way I ride. I put on a new belt cover and rebuilt the primary clutch a few weeks ago. $300 for that one. I went riding two weeks ago with a friend. He just bought a Sportsman 500 4x4 and we were having a blast at a local riding area. Long story short, I got a little to crazy (imagine that) and flipped over in a creek. The engine has a bad knock in it now and needs a rebuild. What can I say, I should have bought a Max! MaxRules |

Hey everyone. You wanted some new blood on here well you got it. I have been reading here on this site for some time but just never joined in. First, of all this is one of the best sites I've seen. Second, I think maybe one big factor in people not talking on here is times are hard and people are working more and harder to keep ahead of the bills. That riiiiiiips a big hole in anyones free time to play and to chit chat. I know I am busyer than ever working now but thats only because its busy at work. I lost site of my enjoyment part of life but enough is enough. Its time to enjoy and ride. I am a proud owner of two attex super chief 500's. |

Brandon: I do not think there is any less interest in 6x6's, just more and more all the time. Just look at this route6x6 site, ONE MILLION ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND PLUS hits over a short time, going up by hundreds every day. Look at this Message board, over TWENTY THOUSAND messages, do a search. The new photo contest, MANY entries over a short time, but where is yours? I bet richard would post yours too. I think aatvs are alive, well and going OK. Just because there are lots of machine for sale, does not mean no interest, there is MILLIONS of cars for sale, does this mean, no interest in cars? Just because there is few post about new machines does not mean there is no interest. Many folks can not afford new machines, they must use what they have. Many thanks to Richard for his support of our older machines and for providing us this website. Most people who post on this board, seem to be honest, decent people. Most are enjoying their machine to the best. Sure there are problems but that is life. I hope you get a dealership soon, so you can see how people are. People today have many concerns, ecomomy, world events, health, familys, jobs, ect. So they can not just go out and play all the time. CREEKING is still a bad way to show the world about aatvs, just my opinion. By the way are you 18 yet? Mike Longest

Brandon, sounds like you are either a rich bastard or just work really hard. Two sierra bosses, max, quad, truck, what else? If we sold some things, I could likely do the same but why? That is another reason the 6x6 are going into the dark (very temporarily!!!) is because people are investing in new things. Things that can be used more often, and are more today. ARGO are contantly updated, but they are very uncommon and if someone has heard about one, they don't have any idea what it looks like. If their was some advertising on regular and popular tv channels (other than hunting, outdoor life etc) than more people would see what they are, what they do and how they can benifit. Also, less people are as worried about getting out of the city and into rural areas. I know for a fact that in TORONTO (Ontario Canada), every weekend, their is twice as much traffic coming into the city, and hardly anyone going out. Times have changed and it will all flip again. TO all Torontonians-- what did you think about our gas price drop this last weekend? If only they stayed that low. Yesterday was a low (not including the weekend prices) and they are still low. Used to be able to get cheep gas on a monday and by the end of the week it is up. Yesterday the price changed 4 times. |

I dont post every ride i do eather.I dont know if anyone would want to hear about them.Maybe im wrong.I did do a small ride at deepwater 2 weeks ago with Roger smith ,mike{Wetsu},Criag {8 wheeler Kid}my buddy Mark{yellow bigfoot}and myself. There was lots of rain the week befor like 4or5".I dont know why know one posted anything because besides great riding,It was the best camping that saterday night. We had a 8 by 10 bigscreen set up.there was 2 vcr's 4 video recorders, lots of movies of rides to watch and we made copy for all,and Roger brought his computer, mouse and keyboard. We seen things he had saved on his harddrive and watched dvd movies. All with a great fire going Nice temp with sky full of stars.Somepeople that camp around us had to come over and say that this was the wildest thing that they've ever seen and that their friends wont beleave this when they tell them.So some great things happen with 6x6s that we dont always hear about.Rick |

rick, glad you jumped in.that was probably one weirdest trips i have ever made, thanks roger, rick, craig, and mark.it ended up costing me a boatload of cash but it was well worth it,and i wouldn't trade it for anything.and hey...we did get the looks didn't we?that was for all intents and purposes the best ride i went on in a long time. one thing you all have to realize, the interest IS there.as with most new or old things,it is just a matter of priorities.people are not spending the way they were, say 3 or 20 years ago.money is tight, people are being laid-off or terminated left and right.big companies are simply shutting down and filing bankruptcy.many aatv companies have come and gone since the beginning.the ones that still remain must know something we don't. |

I was at the Polaris dealer yesterday picking up my 4x4. Lots of people there buying stuff for their toys as well as new toys. The service guy said they sold 94 vehicles last MONTH. I guess not to much interest has been lost. I did $994 damage to my quad. The insurance company will give me a check on Monday for $744 and I'll start rebuilding it. I'll probably post pics of it when I'm done. I am considering starting a dealership, as a hobby at first. Some quad dealers have online ordering for parts and accessories and I plan to do the same for the Max. Accessories will be available first until I can draw up a parts breakdown where every part of the Max can be found and ordered. Credit cards accepted by internet or phone. Easy access to parts and service is what everyone wants, right? It would be worth all my trouble just to see a few more people enjoying amphibs, regardless of making any money or not. Mike, I am 19 years young. My photo contest entry has been posted at #35. I searched through lots of pics I got over those few years of Maxing. I think I picked the one that says it best, "Ride it like you stole it!" MaxRules |

Maxrules Your idea is already old, if you want MAX parts you can already pick up phone and call the Max Company or Route6x6 or any number of good dealerships and order anything you want. You must be a rich boy since anyone with good business ideas know they must make some money. 19 year old, with a plan to set the world on fire, I can not wait to send you money! but I bet RI will take yours. I would like to order a new Max 4seater with a 25hp engine for 4500$ I may take an Argo too. Any one else want one? send in your order. |

And I want a toilet made of solid gold but it aint about to happen. I think that if more automotive dealerships carried parts for all vehicles, we would have an easier time trying to get parts when most of you are not in Canada. Not that you are super far away either. From the US and Canada boarder, your looking at a 2.5-3 hour drive to the plant. |

Hey Mike, it took me a while to decide on a pic. I might have sent mine in to soon also. It looks like if I sent in the winning pic, I would have to wear an ARGO shirt to the next 6x6 ride. You guys would never let that go would you? David, I will know in about a week just exactly what happened inside that engine. A little water usually doesn't bother them nearly this much. I wish it didn't get tore up but I gotta say, that was one of the most awesome things I've done in a long time. I have to admit my riding has gotten even more crazy and careless lately. (OFF ROAD LIGHTS BAN) ATTENTION ALL ATVER'S THIS SHOULD BE OF INTEREST TO EVERYONE: A bill (S.B.370)has been introduced in the West Virginia Legislature by Senator Micheal Ross (who has probably never even been off road)that would only allow original vehicle manufacturer's equipment light bars. This bill would effectively ban the sale, installation and use of aftermarket light bars equiped with aftermarket lighting equipment intended for off highway use. The bill also mandates that the lights be installed or aimed by ( or at the direction of ) the vehicle manufacturer. If you oppose this bill, contact your legislators or W.V. Sen. Ross directly at (304)357-7973 or by e-mail at cglagola@mail.wvnet.edu. Protect your rights. |

From what you have written, the ban does not affect ATV's or ORV's, But usage of the OFF RIDE lights on street vehicles. In effect, limiting the market for the the OFF RIDE light makers... |

I just thought it might be of interest to some people since ATV's aren't my only interest. If you drive 4 wheel drives off road etc. it should be of interest why should the law decide what kind or how many lights we should be able to use off road? If you think this may effect you or someone you know who drives off road then pass this information on to them if not don't worry about it! |

Hi All, This light ban thing sounds like a standard common sense restriction of people who use off road lighting while on road. This practice is very dangerous and i suppose the legislation comes about due to the need to stop some fools expressing their god given right to stupidity. |

ok boy's and girls, what does a light ban have to do with losing interest in THE ALMIGHTY AMPHIBIOUS MACHINE????????and how would it affect a vehicle that (for the most part does not travel the highways and byways)?orrrrr,is it because you've lost enough interest in your machines that you can't think of anything else to talk about????i have been without my bigfoot for 3months,and i can tell you for sure...that i miss it.even when i wasn't riding it,i was at the very least going out and looking at it.knowing that i had one of the best off road vehicles on the market.(my opinion)then i would come to this board and get info out the wazoo on how to maintain it or add accessories to it or just have a little fun posting with all you fine folks here.as for the light bans....i don't recall seeing any where in the BILL OF RIGHTS the right to run 1 million candle power lights on our pov's(personally owned vehicles)so let them ban them, the head lights i had on my bigfoot were plenty bright enough for driving at night! |

I agree with that. I know when I'm don't have the time to ride ,I'm still thinking about things to do with or to my Bigfoot.Been thinking of a better way of tieing it down to the trailer lately. Still I manage to put 10hrs of riding on my machine every month rain or shine |
