I am so tired of hearing people say that the Honda Rubicon is better than the Argo 6x6. If anyone has any stories about an Argo against a Rubicon, or has some opinions, please post a message.

I am new to this wewbsite.I have a guy who wants to trade me his Argo for my Boat.......What can you tell me about an argo? Anything would help.

All you have to do,,is read some past postings of a man who owns both a Honda Rubicon and an Argo.
He is the man that should know how each one performs when compared to each other. There are things that the Honda Rubicon can excell at and the Argo or Max can not. This is fact!
But,,on the flip side of the coin,,there are also things the Argo or Max can do,,that the Honda can not either. This all depends on what each one is bought and used for. It all depends on the application.
Where I live in Louisiana,,,for the "majority" of riders,,,a 4-wheeler is the more versatle for hunting in tight wooded areas. In a more open area,that is less wooded,,an Amphib might be a better choice.
The main problem most people have, with an Amphib when compared to a 4-wheeler of equal price,,is the harsh ride! Its very easy to get spoiled by the comfort of suspension.

This just proves my point, that most on here are full of it. People need to get it straight. An Argo is a lot more menuverible in tight spots than a quad. Go to the Honda website and look at any quads turning radious. Most of the time, it will be more than ten feet. Now when you compare to a skid steer, it makes little comments like Mr. Sander's seem dumb. An Argo can turn on a dimb, making tight spots a lot easier. A quad makes such a wid turn, that I know it would never be more versatle. Besides, you can pack a lot more on an Argo than any quad. Yeah, go ahead and belive your own b.s. The only advantage is speed, and most of the time, its not an issue. I'll tell you what Mr. Sanders. you go get you a big quad, and we'll run through some tight wooded areas, and when I am breezing through and you are having back up, and make corrections in your sterring, don't cry to me. You just don't want to admit that quads can never equal skid steers for versatility. This is a proven fact. One more thing I forgot to mention, is that since they can turn from a stand still, most of the time, you'll not have to back up just to turn around. If a quad is on a high mountain trail where there is nothing in front of it but a drop off, and behind it is a steep hill, and he has to turn around to, say, get out the way he came in(comes to a dead end), and its very tight, then he will have to back half way up and force the handle bars around with his weight, just so he can turn around to drive out the way he can in. A 6x6 on the other hand, will spin form where it is sitting and be on out in seconds. I have driven quads quite a bit, and came close a few times to drivein over the edge of a clift, because I hadn't backed far enough. So where's your versatility? You say they are rougher riding. true? They may be, but I'd gladly take the beating, and so do many others, who've left quads at trails end to hit the lakes for fishing and fun. Any one who reads this go check out some picks of the "badlands run" that is always being held. Picks of some Max 6x6s leaving quads at the shore should give you an idead of versatility, and so should the stuck Grizzly 600.

Because I've owned both here are some of my observations when comparing a quad to an Argo:
Quad Advantage:
1:Faster/more power
2:Smoother Ride
3:More ground clearence/big tires
3:True 4-wheel drive(Polaris &some other models)
4:Approx Half the weight of an 8-wheeler
Argo Advantage 8-wheeler:
1:Much more stable
2:Amphibious
3:Better fuel economy
3:more room/cargo capacity(Up to six)or 1000lbs
4:Turns on a dime
5:Winter use (all season) w/tracks

two of my favorite aatv's would be the attex superchief and the argo 8.
the cheif because it is fast and well built. the argo 8 because of the abiltiy to haul a bunch of people and it is heavy duty.

I just came back from working in Northern California. A 9 year old boy died. His 17 year old cousin was driving an ATV and hit something and they both went flying. Neither had a helmet. The 9 Year old died. the cousin was injuried. California requires all riders of ATVs to wear a helmet... If they had been in an ARGO.. they would have been moving much slower.. would not have needed helmets..etc.. My point is ATVS of 2.3.4. wheel drive are designed for SPEED... the six and eight wheel machines are designed to get thru.. As I posted under OTHER discussions.. they get banned...we are still OK for some areas.. OUR SAFETY RECORD IS OUR PRIMARY ALLY.. push it when talking to local agencies...

ARGO is made by a company in Ontario Canada, Ontario Drive and Gear Ltd. They are in New Hamburg Ontario, just over an hour from Toronto Ontario, where I am, have a look on the web for dealers in the land down under. I know their are at least one dealer in that area so its just a matter of finding out who and where it is. hey 6x6er,
i believe in a tight wooded area david sanders may have been talking about side to side clearance for going between trees. even if he wasnt, in tight timber a 300 honda 2 wheel drive will run off and leave your argo because the trail is too narrow for your 6x6 to fit. when you say "An Argo is a lot more maneuverable in tight spots than a quad." that is not always true.
also, the surface has alot to do with how well a skid steer will perform. i have had my 6x6 wedged between some pine trees because i slid down a pine straw covered hill. unable to get traction to skid steer back up the hill i had to winch sideways to get going again. if i would have been on my grizzly i wouldn't have ended up in that situation. once again, what you claim is not always true.
you said "the only advantage is speed" when you talked about a quad. now really, who is full of his own b.s.?

i can take you to a place with thick soup mud deep enough to float your argo to a dead stop. while i ride circles around you on my grizz im going to ask "where's your versatility?"
each machine has its place, its good points and bad. which one is the best? it depends on what you want to do with it. weather you like it or not, thats the bottom line.

thanks terry, haveing rode with quads and argos i can see you are verry much correct, and of all people to giveing out shit like that, a guy with an 8 foot wide machine!
i have bin behind an argo on a tight trail waiting for them to figure ouit how to make it fit.
so sometimes a quad would have bin better(it was a quad trail this argo couldent fit down, got stuck realy bad with tree as in your remark.
myself i wouldent own a quad, but nether would i own an argo, LOL
