Hi has any one test driven the HOOT or spoken with someone who has driven one. I’m very interested in the Hoot I think it has a lot to offer; it looks like a nice compromise between the ARGO and MAX and a 4 Wheeler. I know that the company has a new model with 1 ½ “ higher fenders for snow tracks, and 5 ½ “ longer. This will be ready for purchasing in September. I’m hoping that someone can give me his or her opinion on how it performs. If it does not perform well I will buy a new ARGO 8 wheeler. I was told buy an ARGO dealer that ODG is testing a new ARGO with a 28Hp motor with a new transmission. Do for production Jan 2004

Laurier- I have a feeling that that may be the new edition of the Bigfoot that is supposed to be in production around the same time. However, why do they need a new tranny? I have only ever heard of maybe 2 issues with the current tranny that are used in them. The first one was with the first Conquest 6x6 to come out. I know the owner of that one, it was custom made and was the prototype for the conquest 6x6. It is a very nice machine, runs so smooth, excluding the rawhide tires which are rough as hell. The engine is nice and quiet even at high speeds- compared to the old Magnum engines which give me a headache after about an hour of running full throttle in high gear. Not to mention, the magnum heats up alot after this much use at full throttle. Even in the winter, mine heats up a fair bit. When you are running tracks, the engine doesn't seem to have the same amount of power, but its running (I think) at its highest possible rpm. Is this true (anyone know?) I know that if you are at a standstill, and you floor it, the engine will rev all the way up and then the speed starts to pick up and you move. The Conquet engine, delivers the power immediatly and the speed likewise. I have not extensively driven the conquest 6x6, but for the short time I did, (off the trailor, and into the trail where we were clearing a lot, about 75 feet away) it was sooooo much nicer than the magnum.

In addition to my last post, I would consider the Hoot, but I worry about how much power they have and how well they would do certain things. I know that the argos will do what is asked of them, within their limits and occasionally above. I don't know if the Hoot would do the same.

I love the HOOT as far as the looks and apeal. It seems to be a good crossover for the quad owner that likes the idea of an amphib but the riding position and feel of a quad.

Some people may disagree but I have spoken to many of my friends that love it and I think it will do well, especially if it is priced in the same range as a quad.

As far as Argo goes, a new transmission sounds interesting but I would not want to be the first to buy and would wait to see how it performs and what bugs it may or may not have.

All I know is that I want the new Max IV that is coming out. I know that it will be awsome and can't wait to see it.

( Laurier )

There has been lots of talk concerning the Hoot amphib, on this 6x6 forum board,, but,,I doubt that any one has test ridden one "yet",,but,,I could be mistaken ha-ha.

Now,,concerning the new Argo, that an Argo dealer told you about,,this is really some thing to speculate about! Argo brothers take notice!

If Argo did come out with a 28 hp motor in an 8x8 ,,this would be great news to all the people that love Argo,s on this forum board. Also,,if the new transmission was all gear driven and, all wheel drive like the Max ,,Argo would sure have winner on its side for sure!!

One way or the other I will buy new AATV. One of the things that ARGO has over the HOOT is I can bring the family out on an outing and all have a real good time. The dealer that I was speaking to, had just come from the company when he had mention the prototype ARGO and the motor is suppose to be a 28 HP Kawasaki. He did not elaborate any more on the transmission.

Hi all,

I wonder if the new? argo transmission is a scaled down version of the centaur??? That would be great true ZTR AWD not an open diff like the current argos or that awd but lossy t20.

Heres hoping.

B&S have a new 28 and 30 HP engine so there might be some merit in the speculation about a new super argo. Have a look.

Kawasaki doesn't make a 28hp liquid cooled engine. 27hp (carb.) and 29hp (DFI).

All that I said was what the dealer told me. I did not receive this info from ODG. I was look and he was talking. We will just have to wait and see

Has anyone herd any thing New on the Hoot ATV the New web page was suppose to be up and running in Sept with the manufacturing plant?

Didn't they go under? I thought I read something on the boards about 2 months or so ago about them no longer in business but I could very well be wrong.

Hoot is a go according to the owners. They are in the process of finalizing their manufacturing quality certifications as well as liability insurances.

It is my understanding that they will be in full production in about a month. I hope they are as I would like to get one to try.

It seems to be a great cross over for the guy that likes quads and 6x6 amphibs. If they do go into production I will be one of the first to buy one as the price retail was some where around $6000.00.

If the machine goes 5 mph on water and 27 mph on land as the specs had said then I will be satisfied. Max's just raised their prices about $600.00 per machine for each model and the last 2 I got were shotty quality. Snaps missing on the tops and at 12,000.00 for a Max IV 9000-T with all the goodies I would have expected better.

I just think that the price and cross over idea will get some share of the amphib market. No, I do not have any affiliation with Hoot but I have looked at their web site many times befor it was temporarily removed and I did call and speak to someone there about when they would be available.

Well I hope they are up and running soon. I check their Web site every day to see when it is up and running. I am looking forward to see the new model with snow tracks. If it does not pan out, I will buy an ARGO Big foot.
