I think the MaxII looks nice, typically it would be just me (6', 280lbs) and my dog, the dog could ride on the cargo rack.
However, in the event I want to take people on rides, especially another big guy, it would be nicer the put one in back on the Max IV and one guy in front. But the Max IV doesn't seem as light and nice for when it's just me (and the dog). Also, with the Max IV, two guys could fish from it easier, more elbow room.
I guess I'd just get the IV, but I'm afraid I'd be getting a less capable machine for when I'm by myself. And I do like the looks of the II with a rollbar.
Also, what are good options to order? I'll mainly be riding in woods but mainly rivers, creeks, and ponds. I like the look and softer ride of smaller, softer tires, the tall ones, look kind of out of proportion. Are one set of tires less prone to getting flats? (I think I'll be hitting lots of thorns).
Thanks for any advice!

John,
I guess the first thing you need to do is
determine exactly what your requirements will
be. Take a close look at what your uses are
going to be. I chose the Max IV over the Max II
and 4 wheelers for several reasons. It will
carry my family of 4. It will fit in my pickup and I
can still tow my camping trailer. I have liked
them since I was a kid. It is multi-purpose;
water, mud, sand dunes, rocks, it goes
everywhere. The Max IV also allows me to
give rides to everyone who drools all over it
(especially the teenage boys). I can use it to
hunt, fish and play. It is easy enough my 9
year old daughter cand drive it and rugged
enough to withstand my 18 year old nephew
(they have actually rolled it without hurting
anyone or anything). And the main reason, it
is the baddest machine you can get. (Okay
Argo guys, we don't have an Argo dealer
nearby so I can't compare). I recommend
gettng the biggest engine, the biggest tires, a
roll cage, seat belts and a winch. The extra
ground clearance you get from the tires can
make a big difference.
How big is your dog? The cargo space in a
Max II isn't very big. The back seat of a Max IV
would have a lot more room.

Thanks for the advice (and to those who responded via email)
Well, I decided to go with a Max IV. Even though the II had more leg room up front, when it's just me and one person, I can sit in the middle and drive and they ride in back.
I put probably 12 hours on it this weekend through rivers, hills, and mud, with anywhere from 1 to 4 people in it. I'm glad I got the IV. May dog sits happily on the floor in the back seat.
I did get stuck in shallow rivers with muddy/sandy bottoms a lot, since the water would wash out the sand around the tires. But we'd just get out and let it float up and push it out of the shallow area. I think ANY wheeled vehicle gets stuck in the crub.
I also found a few nice fishing holes while driving down the river also!
PS I got the Max IV, 25hp, 26" tires, roll bar.
Lot's of fun!
