Hello route 6x6 people!
My name is Tim and tonight I put a deposit on a 2000 maxII. It has 145hrs. track kit with tires and a bigger set of rawhideII. The max is in great shape has roll bar full camo top, winch and the 18 hp engine. I got the seller down from his original price of $8000 to $7000 and he is firm on that. Any additional questions I should be asking? Or things I should be looking for?
What do you guys think of this mach. for this price?

I dont know if thats a fair price or not for a 2000 Max II. I,ve recently talked to a Max dealer about trading my 2002 Max IV 900 T in on a new 950T Max IV. I was insulted when this same dealer offered me only $7,500 for trade in value.

My 2002 Max IV has only 26 total hours on it,because I have been able to drive it much since I bought it. The body is in excellent shape. It has a camo body,camo top and sides, windshield, full roll cage, hour meter, amp gauge, 26 inch tires,new 2500 warn winch, 25 hp motor.

I spoke with the dealer that sold this machine today,and asked him what he would give for trade on it if I decieded to move up to a max IV next year and he said about 7K. It appears these units don't hold their value very well in the secondary market. The seller of my maxII has reciepts totaling over 14K for the machine and all the options he had installed when new.

Anybody else have any opinions on this price?

Hey Tim, that sounds like a fair price for that vehicle. You might want to check on the axle bearings and chains. Ask the owner how much the tracks were used. The drivetrain is the most important part to check in these amphibious vehicles. You are down $600 or more in just one set of o-ring chains. Then if the bearings or sprockets need replaced... ouch!

I'd like to see one dealer give mudbug more than $7500 for his Max. I am the dealer that offered that amount and I'm proud to say so. That is a very good trade in price for that vehicle. It is always best to sell a vehicle out right if you want top dollar. I would be purchasing the vehicle sight unseen. I *might* be able to sell that Max IV for $8500. It would no doubt take several weeks or even months to do so. Resale value is currently very poor because of the economy and record low prices RI is offering on new machines. I can buy a Max IV equiped like mudbug's brand new for only a few hundred dollars more than I can sell his used machine for. It's a buyer's market right now. New vehicles will never be priced lower than right now, or RI will be gone.

I appreciate the feedback on that. Cruising the site (Great site BTW Richard!)I see quite a few of you guys get together for AATV rides and that sounds like alot of fun. Any max/argo6/wheeler owners on this board from New Hampshire? I would really like to hook up and ride with some other aatv owners and maybe pick up a few tips on running these rigs.

Tim, I too am interested regarding any AATV riding areas in NH as I am new to all this too.
I hope to get some information from the dealer in West Swanzey but I haven't asked them the riding questions yet, perhaps you can.
So far they've been very helpful as have all those who created, support and use this board (Thanks Richard).

I'm just getting started bringing an '86 MAX II back to life.
Everything on it works but everything needs some TLC (well used but not used well).

Please let me know what you learn about riding in NH.

Hello 6x6 ers!
I just purchased a 2002 Max II - 18 HP with windshield and roll bar. No hour meter although the owner states 50 or so hours. The machine is clean - nothing bent, broken. Paid $3,800 - was this a good price for this machine??

I would say you did well on that deal! That machine has the solid splinned axles and O-Ring chain and so forth, so you are well above the entry level Max II 450T.

I have never driven one of these bad boys before and am looking forward to getting a little stick time. I plan to take it out when the lakes around here freeze and practice up a bit before I hit the swamp and woods behind my home. I live on 7 acres, 4 of which is sedge meadow (swamp). There are about 50 acres of surounding land that I have received permission to ride on (also swamp). I am a little disapointed that public trails in WI are off limits to anything wider than 48 inches that you can't straddle. Seems these AATVs tear up the land far less than some of the 4X4s.

Congrads Bill! Sounds like a smoking deal! I ended up buying the Maxx II I started this thread about. I love this thing! Thanks for all your help guys and thanks for posting my questions admin team. I am having a little trouble steering in one direction (to the right) the right stick seems to pull back about 3 inches more than the left now. Makes it hard to get in gears and makes steering right almost impossibe unless I come to a compleate stop and really yard on the right stick. Also I spun a track off yesterday...maybe my tire pressure was too low? Does anyone know of a windshield wiper kit for maxxII's? How about a front rack?
