I got a Max IV recently and was wondering if the Humphrey event is geared more to the very experienced rider or if a new rider could participate and not be a burden to the other riders.

Hi Ray
I have a new MAX II 600-T. I had 8 hours on it when I got to Hummpery. I had no trouble with any of the trails. Went on the night ride Friday, and was in the hills from 9:30PM to 1:30AM. Got onto a logging trail that was really bad, but got though without breaking a thing. It is truly a great time, I'm sure you would enjoy it.On Saturday went on the dice run what was about 25 miles, and had a ball. I now have 17 hours on MAX. From what I seen, Max is the way to go for me (true 6 wheel drive). I will be going next year for sure even if I have to call in sick. Hope to see you there. I drove from Jackson, Mi for 7 hours, and it was worth every minute of it. Hope to see you there. Larry (Sti-Me)

with250 riders there i figure 30% probly thik there inexpireanced, but by next years event you could be very expireanced, just go practice! find a barrel and practice right hand turns, find some difering water teraine to practice in, also try diferant tires and tire presher as knowing what works best is what practicing is all about! (also find the steepest hills to climb and desend after you have some practice) the trails are very chalenging! find out how many miles to a tank you get as the 25 miles can eat up lots of gas!don't wory about the other guy there there for the fun too!!

52866 & Mazorowsk:
Fri night & Sat Am All well, upon turning truck around in back of field RH Side by ORG tire was flat upon return from Dice ride. Perhaps it was glass left by someone. The guys next to me complained of sharp stick where they were parked. I stated I left b/c I was ill prepared to and cold and left . So What! I finished the Dice run @ 2:45 w/ no damage ahead of you( your term whimps) Maybe if you spent from 3:30 pm to 8:30 missing the fun and fixing a flat and eating a left over cold chicken dinner it would have rubbed you the wrong way also!!!
I'm sorry if my sarcastic critism of your loved event offended you! Hey I'm from NY and call them like I see them. (1)There were ruts in trails made by Quads that caused problems. (2)I asked if breakfeast was available and got a negative response when I got there Fri night, if it wasn't true I'm sorry. (3) The people who knew better and got there early camped by Firehouse. (4) That a HFD Relation own a Max II now great! Suggesting it was setup was uncalled for.(5) Stay home I don't think so!!!! (6) To say HFD event was perfect just because they put it on? Get real! I was trying to suggest improvements and apoligize
if my tone, choice of words, descriptions of my misfortune, offended YOU in any way.
Ernie

five hours to change one flat tire?
By Mike Bossart on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Hey we had a flat as well. Caused by those ruts. NO BIG DEAL. We ate the cold chicken, that had great flavor to it I might add. (I'll bet it was really awesome hot.) Still no big deal. We spent 4 hours driving in Sat. morning and 4 hours driving home Sat. night. Once again no big deal. When Bob and I got home we looked at each other and said what a fantastic time we had. We met some great folks. rode some good trails and just had a great time. Next year we will both take our buggies and families for the entire weekend. It's a shame you didn't have as much fun as we did. If you want to see what I saw on Sat. check out the pictures at http://www.geocities.com/dicerun Hope to see you there next year.

Chief Lockwood from the HFD would like to thank everyone that attended the 3rd annual Jamboree. It was a true pleasure to have hosted you for the weekend. You are a fun and mud loving group and the HFD appreciates your support of their fundraiser. The firehall volunteers appreciated your cooperation in staying on the designated trails and keeping the trails and firehall grounds free from litter. We hope you will return to HFD next year and bring some friends with you. We are already talking of improvements for next year and welcome any suggestions any of you may have. If you have suggestions for next years event please contact Ramona Griffin at the WNYATVA.

my son and I went for the first time and had a ball. WE had done a lot of camping over the years so facilitys were not a problem at all . Any other extras were a plus. My son is 12 years old and we had 20 hrs on our MAX he did most of the driving and had no problems. NO FLATS NO BREAK DOWNS NO COMPLAINTS. If you are looking for groomed trails buy asled and stay in a lodge. If you are looking for a good time and good riding you should go next year. Humphrey may have a fall event so you may want to check out the site now and then. RAY and TJ syracuse N.Y

Humprey Video
Just got my Humphrey Video in the mail. The video contained plenty of footage of the trail rides, (saw me in my Argo flashing bye twice) There was tons of footage on the MUD pit and the bucket relay. Unfortunately there was very little tape of the other field events (Blind driver ... Barrel race ... Broom & Ball etc). Since I saw a lot of video recorders out there ... would like to obtain a copy of a tape taken that shows me wearing a black German style helmet and doing counter rotating 720's in my 30 year old Attex. The vehicle is camoed out and I was doing the 720's in the parking lot during the barrel races.
I'd also be interested in obtaining a copy of ANY of the multiple tapes taken of the Saturday trail ride.

Ha!
20 hrs a newbie, what till you have 130-200 hrs and leaking bearings, bent axles, broken chain adjusters, etc. A doctor bill from the back pain!
The Max is a 30 year old design that needs wheel suspension and/or better seat!
I'd be in Mikes pictures but finished the Dice run @ 2:45 right behind the @ green Max II from NH
dealer!

I am rays son TJ. i'm sure you guys have a little bit more experience than i do with any of the six wheelers. but i drove all weekend at humphrey and didn't have trouble once. i drove in every nite ride, the dice run, and all of the activities on sunday.my father drove for 10 minutes the entire weekend. i was right behind 2 different dealers on both of the nite runs and had a great time without any flats or popped beads
