1st place $ 100.00
2nd place $ 75.00
3rd place $ 50.00
4th place $ 25.00

Just remember that the winner is based on the roll of the dice. This is not a speed event.

Strongly suggest you either put your "modified" AATV in deep water BEFORE you get to Humphrey. Either that ... or ... add a couple of OARS and a LONG rope to your "fat guy" modifications Ken. This "fat guy" (350+) has been knee deep in water INSIDE of my AATV (knocked a hole in the bottom that was letting in more water than the bilge pump was pumping out.) TRUST ME the thing floats full of water ... but ... the engine doesn't run very long when it is submerged. IF YOU DON'T TEST FLOAT YOUR BUGGY ... The mud pit at Humphrey is MORE than deep and LONG enough to prove to you that you're not water tight.

A dice run works like this:

You roll 5 dice at the start of the run. You stop at several checkpoints. At each of these checkpoints you roll the dice. At the end of the run the person with the highest total score wins the dice run.

The Dice Run is scheduled to start at 11:00 am. You would probably want to be there at least an hour before it starts to get signed up and attend the drivers meeting.

The Max II was unschaved by mountain, but I can't say same for Ranger front tire!

Left Sat PM as Max's could easily woop Argo's in that mud hole!

Its more than I can say for trail/ seem's lots of max's needed fixing and the Argo's ( All those new one's ) went thru unschaved! Oh I guess I should not compare a new bigfoot to a 92 Max II with hollow axles that made it thru on a wim and a pare!

Returned from Humphrey last night. I for one had a great time. 40 miles and 10 ½ hours in one day. Whew! Met some nice folks and had a great ride. I popped both front beads in one spot on the trail. Thanks to my fellow riders and Leo who had an air compressor (my next addition) we got them back on in good time. There were some others who had this same problem in that same spot. Most seemed to be 25" Rawhide III like on the Argo Bigfoots. (I have a Max IV) The guy in front of me was sitting there with a popped bead watching me go through the rut and said it just rolled that tire off like it was designed too. It was a narrow deep rut, narrower than the tire.
I got stuck once trying a bonehead move. I almost got out by playing bulldozer but someone in an Argo gave me a pull and saved the day. I rode around a while with mounds of dirt and uprooted bushes on the front. I have never gotten involved in the great Max/Argo debate and avoid it there also. I rode along with both Max and Argo riders and found all to be friendly helpful companions. I could see both good and bad points to both machines.
A lot of people seemed interested in my suspension seat. I have sent Richard some pictures and how to article about that and he has promised to post it when he gets time. I know he has a stack to do. I also picked up some ideas form others I would like to add to my machine.
The worst part of the whole trip was the way home as my truck broke down but all in all I had a great time!

What I saw was some folks working on older MAXS, and some folks working on argos. It seemed lkie there were more older MAXS than older argos.

An argo won the rodeo which was based on the average time of all the events. Aside from the mud bog, the other events were not designed to be machine vs machine. The winners of the mud bog race were a MAX dealer from West Swanzey, NH driving a MAX II. In second place was a MAX II driven by a MAX dealer in Olathe, KS. They only awarded trophys for the first two places, I don't know how anyone else finished.

There was a hydro-traxx there. Nice looking machine but it was too big(wide) for most of the trails. The hydro-traxx did not compete in the rodeo. My opinion is too big, too expensive, and too slow(18mph top speed).

The dice run was a blast. This place has some very aggressive trails. It seemed that the biggest problem that people had were tires and wheels. There were a lot of bent rims and punctured tires on both argos and MAXS.

The centuar was there. It is a very nice vehicle. However, it is not a cure all. There was places that a regular argo or a MAX could go through that the centuar could not.

All in all I think everyone had a good time. Next year the Fire Department will be raffling off an argo. It seems that they plan to do a MAX one year and an argo the next.

I would also like to thank Richard for helping me with the raffle tickets. Also thanks to everyone who bought a ticket from me.

The Humphrey Dice-Run was a fantastic ride. Tim, Cool Bob and I were the guys watching your tires come off the rim. We had it happen to us just before you. Next year we'll take both of our buggies and families for the weekend. What a good time. Watching the kids (big & small) playing in the mud pit Saturday evening was a roar. What a good time that's all I can say.

Rocks and tree stumps sticking up hard on tires.

it was long trail but nothing that challenging except those 5 wet places.

a beginner or inexperienced rider or poorly prepared machine would have trouble.

I talked to the guy with the air tank on his max IV rollbar, but somehow missed meeting you and seeing the suspension seat.

$80 for gas to get there almost not worth it!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like everyone had a good time. Wish I could have been there. Next year I am coming for sure. I am thinking that maybe I will sell my Max and Hustler next year and with some extra cash I am buying a new Max IV 25hp. I could go to Recreatives to pick it up and ride it at Humphery. That would save me $425 on shipping. $100 should cover gas as long as I don't have to go through too many mountain roads. Did any one on here take pics or get a video like last year's ride?

Congrats on the Hustler purchase, Brandon. I ordered a video but it will take him a while to put it all together. I am hoping to see myself in it. LoL. I'm sure you can order one from him. Just got back from Humphrey (Stopped at Lake Canadohta PA. to clean the mud off while fishing)
Had a super time ... The raffle was won by one of the ladies from the Humphrey Fire Department. Had her in tears. As I see it ... WE gotta solve the problem of popping tires off the beads. (DID IT TWICE ... BUT ... Thanks to the "Guardian Angels" from ODG completed the ride on six tires ... You guys were a life saver.)

JT - Recreatives has already solved the tire problem with the K-rims. No new machine I have seen has had the tires come off. A friend's 99 Max IV 25hp had the old style rims and they came off too many times to count. He even had at least 3psi in them. I went through the same terrain as he did with 0psi in my tires with no trouble at all. The new 2000 Max IV now has 12" k-rims which will hopefully work just as good as the 8" rim.

Howdy :
My wife & I have a ARGO BigFoot. (our 1st AATV)
We were reading about the HVFD ride. Plan to be there next year.
Looking for information on ARGO’s or MAX tires.
The question is, when you have rolled a bead off one of your tires,
is it the front tire most of the time?
We are running about 3 to 4 psi on all six tires.
Had considered putting more air in front tires.
Don’t know if that would be the right thing to do?
We were at the BADLANDS (750 acres tuff stuff), Attica, IN.
We were down in a mud hole and laying on the right side, when I knocked off the out side bead of the front right tire and filled the tire with mud. Drove it on five wheels (½ mile). Hour latter was back ready to go. We had a great time.

I would think the fronts are the most likely to pop a bead. I popped both mine at Humphrey and did put more air in them for the remainder of the ride but noticed a rougher ride. I have thought about screwing the beads to the rim as many have suggested. I think when I change tires to put the tracks on I will do it as you should demount the tires to drill the holes. The tires I use with the tracks are on K rims and I have never popped one of those even though the tracks have wadded them up into unbelievable contortions.

The Bigfoot will hold the tires on fairly well. 2psi should do good as long as you don't get into any tough spots. The last ride I was on I had 1psi in my tires (with k-rims). I backed up in a creek and drove three wheels up on the bank. It was super steep and pretty much laid it on it's side. I put it in forward I started to drive it back down. I turned left and looked at the front tire being pulled to the side as far as it could possibly go. The rim was digging into the gravel and the sidewall of the tire was where the tread should be. The k-rims still held tight. Over a year of hard running and the tires haven't ever come off.

I bent all my rims but two on my conquest, but I never popped a bead. I guess I'm a lucky one. There may be a lot of potshots at the runamuk tires, but my 22'ers went right through everything. The mud wrestling was a riot! I'm surprised that there was much mud left in there for the rodeo. What do you guys think of the new 8x8 Argo bigfoot? That jet black with neon green trim was sure an eye catcher. I think that color could make a lot of sales if ODG would sell it like that. That 26 hp kawasaki engine looks like a bruiser. It was good to see lots of 6x6, 8x8ers all together having a good time.

Hey Max - I checked out that 8x8 on sixwheeler.com and I don't think it's an 8x8 Big Foot. I think it the Conquest in a new yellow color option for 2001.
Can you increase the tire size on an Argo Conquest?

Brandon, yes it is called a Bigfoot 8x8. I have pictures but don't have a scanner. I hear it is the fastest argo yet, and saw first hand it take off and beat another conquest very easily. It has the 25' rawhide III tires, looks like a real performer. Talk about making an entrance!

I just got home from the Deepwater ride. It was the best. We had a good number of machines this time. One guy brought his 2000 Max IV 800-T. The backseat room is greatly improved. We had a '99 900-T so we could easily see the changes. The Max IV with 26" tires is easily the best mud machine. I got to drive the new Max IV (Thanks Dean!) and I loved it. The new 12" k-rims we great. Not a single k-rim tire popped off all weekend, and yes, there are plenty of deep quad ruts.
All machines performed great. Some had advantages over others but most of the time it was all in the driver experience.
There is another ride planned this Fall around the end of October. It won't be so hot then. Deepwater is the best place I have ever gone six wheelin'.

billy, boy do thouse centars put the ug in ugly, video of the event is by john schwab-11003 bennett state rd.- forestville NY.14062 his phone# is 716-965-2960 the tape is 3 1/2 hrs long and is $15.00 of wich $2.00 go's to the fire dept.others with worthy footage may post it here and you may obtain copy's from them to add to john's tape for a more comprehensive tape. all though after 3 1/2 hrs of vewing a video you feal like you have bin out riding already, lol. p.s. i have a little tape, not much though,i did get some of the barrel races, thats someting that is not on johns tape, davidb3rd@aol.com

Maxrules, Brandon, I just checked out the Deepwater and Spring fling links from your page.
My bloods boiling to see the competition in action. To think Power-Trac claims their atv is as good as either the max's or argo's in those pictures is mind boggling.
I couldn't imagine putting this sorry piece of crap in ANY of those situations!
Maybe if I tied innertubes to it one of you guys could have pulled me through the water and up the hills!!
