mate, over in australia the piggies(cops)wont even let you drive a pushmower along a footpath so i say dont worry about it, and yerself a land rover.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT IS REQUIRED TO MAKE AN ATV
STREET LEGAL, IT WOULD SEEM THIS WOULD BE A BIG
ATTRACTION FOR THE MOTOR HOME OWNER, THAT WAY HE COULD MAKE THE SHORT RUNS TO TOWN,OFF ROAD TRAVEL AND HAVE HIS FISHING BOAT ALL IN ONE.

you can legalise them 6x6 in q,l,d, australia.

As far as I know, you'd need automatic brake lights, turn signals, license plate lights, and seatbelts. I'm not sure about dual beam headlights and bumpers. If RI or ODG want to start selling them as street legal, air bags become an issue since they are obviously not motorcycles. Top speed may be an issue in some places. Here in Mississippi state law understands "truck", "automobile" and "motorcycle" as legal motor vehicles. If you do not fit neatly into one of those catagories you are not street legal, period!

I don't think you have ever driven a skid steer 6x6 at 50 MPH on blacktop. They are just about suicidal on turns, even gradual turns.

try regestering it as a "tractor or implement".

i'm shure if the army decides they need them they will become regesterable in usa.

skid sters are not friendly to pavement so they are not streat legal, however there are towns that look the other way and let people ride atv's to gas stations of food marts from places people often ride, otherwis as states goverments go they vairy widely, some might alow them with extra equipment, i saw a slow vehicle signe used on a route6x6 page(farm vehicle red triangle on back of machine)

I run my ARGO up on the roads at my cottage all the time. That is where I do almost all my ARGOing. Since I put the rollbar back on, I can't get through some of the tight trails that I used to run on and since then, the property owners have asked me to stay off for a while so things can fill in a little. They were getting 4 wheelers ripping up the trails and by my tracks being there, it just showed that people were using the trails so I stayed off. NObody has ever said anything about me being on the roads, but at the same time, their aren't any cops around there either. Their isn't much traffic on those roads, maybe a car or two an hour and nothing after it gets dark. I have a slow moving vehicle sign on the back of the ARGO and its amazing how many people don't realize what it means. They will sit behind me and wait until I wave them through.

Riding your machine on the pavement only wears away at the tires, which will eventually cause you to replace them prematurely. Sure they will still last a while being run on pavement, however, I find it much more enjoyable to run them off road.

On occasion I have road my machine around the streets here in the city, with gun boots still installed and all, and no ORV sticker either, and when one of our local cops pulled me over, the only thing he asked was, "are the gun boots empty or not"? Then he just shook his head and off we went back to what we were doing.

I also got pulled over out at our farm and other property in the country, riding on the dirt roads and pavement out there, which is a couple of hours west of the Detroit area, once by a State Trooper, and at another time by the local Sheriff, and they were just curious to find out more about my machine and also wanted to make sure that I did not have loaded weapons in the gun boots and was not road hunting.

I also do have a orange triangle on the back tail gate for a farm implement.

I am sure there will be a point in time when I do run accross a trooper of Sherif or C.O. that is not quite as friendly or tolerant of what I like to do. It seems that if you just play it cool and act some what responsible and curtious they tend to just leave you alone. Although I have not run into a State Conservation Officer yet, they do tend to be quite a bit more stearn and do like to write tickets for just about any reason.

FYI, In NY, all ATVs are supposed to be registered with the state. The State does not require you to register an ATV that is going to be purchased for agricultural purposes. Most people do not register their ATVs and I'm certain that in NY, there are more ATV owners than farm owners (especially on Long Island)

I did register one of My Attexes once (a real pain in the neck without the title) and never renewed the registration but I do keep the plate on it. Anyway, even with a legal registration, in NY vehicles also need to be state inspected and insured. You cannot necessarily drive legally on road even if your ATV is registered.

i meant riding on road 1 mile to get to a trail to bush tracks,
i would never ride on road for fun,

if you use a trailer you need to guard it so it's there when you get back.

a guard dog wouldn;t do , (maybe gun happy mr smith previosly of extreem machine 2000 would do).

so i would rather ride there.

Originally I just wanted proof of ownership. After the difficulty I experienced with registering the 1st one, I never bothered again. No one at the DMV understands the dicription and being 30 years old, the serial numbers are usually difficult to get impressions of. It's like trying to prove something that they don't believe exists, belongs to you.
