I have an early 80's Argo and the body is distorted from the heat of the muffler below the muffler box which will allow water into the body.
Is there a good way to repair this, and any way of preventing it from happening?

curtis,
if it is a crack, you could weld it back together with a soidering iron. if it is a big gap, you could trim off a small piece from the dash or seatbase lip and use like a fillet rod with the iron.
to stop it from melting again, try and get some fiberglass insulation with aluminum foil on one side (like the stuff found under the hood on most auto's). i got a hunk from a heating co.
you also could buy a sheet of exhaust gasket mat'l from a auto supply. and lastly some header wrap can "definately" cover your exhaust pipe and muffler.
ps i wouldn't want to be around when your buddy asks you "do you know what happen to the insulation that was under my truck hood"?
