All ready to start my Chaparral resto. Drilled out all the pop rivets holding the top shell to the bottom shell. I removed all the seat bracket hardware , and just can't get the lid to budge!! I even took a fine tipped screwdriver and Hammer to it!!!! My Chaparral body is made out of white ABS and some kind of White sealent has been used. Its hard as a rock!! Any ideas Guys???? Heat gun maybe???

YOU DONTHAVEto pull body haves apart to get frame out. I did a complete resto on a orange chaparral. When all is loose pull frame thru engine opening ,it will come out. I ALSO HAVE 2 AT THIS TIME.ONE ORIGINAL 90% AND ONE 50%

dano, sounds like the top& bottom is glued or the 1960's version of dave's stuff* was samwhiched in between. i would "definately" reinstall the pop rivets.

I found the sme problem on my Amphicat. The glue had really been broken down above the muffler and I was able to get a sharp putty knife in there. I just hammered it around the body until I was through all the glue. Now I need to do the same on the inside.
