hi barry, rout6x6 is a wonderfull place and the discussion board has the most info on aatv's and so on next to the library of congras but it is a little to dificuld to find the info posted weeks or monthe let alone years ago, so someone who posted ansers or remembers what someone posted as an anser to a question some time in the past has the opertunity to read a new incarnation of the question a persom might not ever find this info,

aah but to this your question:
yes the shaft dose have to come out, study it well befor you do it so you get it back into place correctly, i had one, there is a trick,
same one used for most if not all the older models with a transmition that must be torn down to replace a belt, simply put perchus at least 2 belts and put them both over the shaft before you reasemble, next wire tie one of them out of your way in the engin-trany compartment so it dosent come into contact with any moveing objects and then put other belt into pullys, presto next time you need a belt you only need brake wire ties and your done, this makes for neet trail side repair and also is a great sales feature too!
did it on mine and it helped by trail side and again when it came time to sell it, person was greatly releaved he wouldent have to take trany apart when belt gets old,

Barry,
I've got a Terra Tiger also. Yes, the shaft must come out to replace the belt. Some one suggested installing 2 belts at the same time and wiring 1 out of the way. Then, the next time the belt needs replacement, just cut it off and put the new belt on the pulleys. It'll save you tons of time.
