i have an 83 argo Mangum with the 18 HP Mangum motor. I am having carb troubles. I have the Walbro carb and i was running way way to lean. ive richend it up about 2.5 turns! if i push the choke in all the way i get slugigh preformance. so i have to hold the choke out about a half inch. should i richin it more? im having hesataion from 0 to full throtle..any suggestions?

sounds like you have a plugged up jet. Remove and repair the carb.

thanks for the replys i was thinking both of those ideas, is there an acelation pump in these carbs? i was thinking that also may be the problem..

you probably have a gummed up carb. Time to clean the jets.

it sound like you have plugged up jets ports
and carb need to be clean
and you might a peace of dirt in your carb bowl

Yes cleaning the Carb and rebuilding will help,but replacing fuel filter and fuel lines washing out the fuel tank replacing the fuel pump solved all my 18hp Kohler magnum probelms.
Fuel stabilizer is a Good way to keep these systems running.

A lot of people are scared to attempt to dis-assemble and clean a carburator. It is not that hard. I do it all the time on my weed-eater and blower and recently had to do it on my kohler 20 hp on my MAX IV. It is not hard. The newer Kohler have fixed jets if I remember. Take the carb apart and use a Can of WD40 or carb cleaner. Use the Stem to spray pressure through ALL the fuel journals inside the carburator. Take out whatever needle valve yours has and spray in it too. reset needle valves out 1 full turn to start with. Then fine tune with engine running. Also clean all the exterior cable linkage and make sure it is not re-assembled too tight.
