scott the 23 briggs realy sings with a rev kit,
there are no hop up parts for kholer engines,
and theres tones of preformance parts for briggs engines,
get the 23 briggs!

Will the Kohler Command 25hp fit into an ARGO MAGNUM? That is the engine I want when mine dies, but who if i have to make any modifications, im in trouble. Will it work with all the gearing and the parts already in the vehicle?

is the swap for the 23 a direct drop in or is there some modifications involved..do u have any sites where i can get info on a rev kit?

i beleave john hoath (argoguru)put a 23 in his 8x8
he temporarely bypased the oil cooler to get it in and also modifyd the mounts, ect.ect..
looked like it wouldent be to tough to find a good spot for the cooler,
as to the site for preformace parts,
mudbuster (timothy@acol) has modifyed his 23 with a rev kit,he has that info.
i have a 440 2 stroke and i can't get away from him on a trail!

I put a "rev kit" in my 23hp briggs. I raised the compression with dome pistons too. The parts I used where:
new pistons
rings
connecting rods
valve spring retainers
shims to increase valve spring pressure
exhaust push rods(factory is aluminium)
New torque specs and valve adjustment specs
It took me a little while to get it right after doing the work. I took it to pete's spring fling on it's maiden voyage and was a little dissapointed with it there but after playing with the carb and working on the governer(throwing it in the trash)it runs amazing compared to the factory 23hp.

forgot to put in my last post that the 23hp is a bigger block than the other engines. A "revved up" 20hp should drop in and give you ample power. Be warned that you will need fuel with very high octain to run high compression.

I need to soop up an 18hp briggs, What can I do without dropping too much money or digging too deep into the engine? carb, air filter, pluggs,?

As most of you know I run snowmobile engines in my argos, and they out perform the briggs and kohlers by far. And Also you can usally pick up an old snowmobile out of sombodys yard for real cheap. and maybe put 300 dollars in to the motor having it rebuilt, and have a motor that out performs a new one. I am maching up the exaust on my latest motor swap (blew my last motor up) Its a 50HP RUPP, I scored it for free and it runs.

Now as for good sleds to use, I try to get liquifires (their liquid cooled)and rated at 50hp, or RUPP NITRO 440s also rated at 50hp, yamahas,or kawasaki's work good to.But the absolute best ones are the ones you get for free. All you gotta do if you see an old sled sitting someware I have found is offer to haul it away for the owner (I have gotten 4 sleds this way and three of them run)I will post pictures of my latest argo swap on my web site tomarrow.

Now I know what most of you are thinking about the added stress of of 30 more horses in an argo, I have never had a stress failure, Blew a driver clutch once but that was from a worn clutch stop. any jarring from the extra power is asorbed by the drive belt.

if anybody wants to learn more about installing sled engines in argos just ask me.

Oh yeah forgot to mention my top speed on my argo supersport has been gps clocked at 55mph on dirt, Its squily as heck but man its fun! and the 440cc motors I run let argos do awsome doughnuts in the mud They will roost mud about 25 feet in the air!

well later
argoss
