Just saw this post, but thought I would offer some insoght into the way bearings etc... are marketed. Did you know that most of the stampings, bearings, etc... that are used in any amphibious machine (Max, Argo, etc...) are standard industry types. The reason for the changes in desing are more often related to industries not connected with our sport. Usually you can go to any agricultural dealer and save some money on your parts if you know what to ask them for. Why? Because they usually have to sell at a lower profit to their customer baase and they price accordingly. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS APPLIES TO THE SMALL INDEPENDENT MORE SO THAN YOUR LOCAL JOHN DEERE DEALER. The stampings used on the MAX actually come from a company called Manitou Mfg. in White Bear Lake, MN.
I know because the company I work for buys from them also.
God Bless,
George H. Sparks/ Engineer
P.S. I currently have been in the power transmission business for about 20 years.
