I RECENTLY ADD 2 KC LIGHTS ON TOP OF MY ROLL BAR FOR NIGHT DRIVING. I WIRED THEM DIRECTLY TO THE BATTERY OF MY MAX 2. I THEN RAN THE WIRE TO AN OFF/ON TOGGLE SWITCH. MY PROBLEM: AFTER RUNNING THEM FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES, MY BATTERY RUNS DEAD. HOW CAN I WIRE THEM SO THAT THE BATTERY CAN RECHARGE???? PLEASE HELP.. RICK

hey rickb: aparently your charging system cann't support the extra light....check for clean conection between engine -rectifier ( check internal fuses//2 x 5 amp)and rectifier to batery....better to check also with a voltimeter.. if your actual charging system is working properly...(you should read between 12.5 and 14 v with light on...below 12.5 your system will discharge the batery..above 14 v will evaporate liquid on batery....engine has two separate electric system...one for spark plug and the other to supply electricity to batery.........happy night bouncing!!!

you need lower watage lights, volts charge your bat no matter how you wire it but if you have les amps coming from the engine than your lights use then ther gone and the batery makes up the diference, some here have added another generator, thats ok but i think you should check out the helth of your charging unit and then beter match lights for sensable power consumtion, also good batery condition and clean contacts are nesesary,

The Briggs charging system is 16 amps. Assuming you have 55 watt lights. When running 2 lights you are drawing 9 amps. If your head lights are on the draw 27 watts each( assuming incandesant lights). This would draw about 5 or 6 amps. So...you are useing about 14 amps to run you lights. This does not leave enough juice to charge your battery. You have 2 choices..1 remove you aux lights. 2 check with Briggs and see if they have a higher output alternator.
I have 60 watt headlights on my IV-900T. I put a 25 amp alternator kit on my engine to compensate for the headlights. I have had no problems with my battery, even while snowplowing. I have a 2500 Warn winch on my MAX.

I'm going to put a warn 2500 on my maxII as well.
Do you think the stock battery will have the amps I'll need to do short pulls like when you get stuck which isn't often?

I have the stock battery still in my machine. I have had my winch on about a year. I have used it to operate my snowplow, and only a couple of times for vehicle recovery( usually not mine lol).
Warn recomends 500 cold cranking amps. If I remember correctly I think my battery is 320 to 350cca. I always figured that I would get a stronger battery when the the one I have goes bad.
I got the alternator kit from my local Kohler dealer. I do not remember what I paid for it. You will need a flywheel puller, and a set of feeler gauges to install the upgrade kit. Other than that it was a simple installation.

Just installed a Warn 2500 Winch.Haven't had a chance to use it as yet.What should I expect to see on my amp meter and voltmeter during and after using the winch?I have a stock battery and everything has a good secure connection.I am under assumption that it will indeed cause a darn good drain while winching .Should a higher RPM on motor help compensate while winching and about how long can I expect to recharge the battery after a good winch?I am running a Max II with a 16 HP briggs.

Sense you got your kit from a Kohler dealer I assume you have the Kohler engine in yours. If so, do you know if Brigs has such a kit available?

I do not know if Briggs offers a option on their alternator. Sorry.
