It's me again. Fred the problem is that any application differs in the amount and interval between grease replenishment. You are right it is kind of a guess. Too many variables during operation are the main reason.
Another thought too. Fred you say that you are a Max dealer then here is some helpful info. All of the bearings on the Max should have 1/4 x 28 unf straight zerks. You can replac these with 45 degree angle and 90 degree angle and solve part of the problem of not being able to reach them. (Really good for the outside bearings.) It will help on most of the bearings. (Right middle behind seat on Max II.) It will not fully solve the problem though. The fittings are very cheap and can be installed without much effort. (10 minutes on all six outside bearings.)

George, (from the other thread) - I'm always open for suggestions (especially polite ones concerning constructive stuff about Max). You can give them to me via private email or through this discussion board (so all can benefit). Your suggestion about the zerks is a good one, but I send machines out the way RI builds them because it's their warranty and I will do it the way they say it should be done.

About your engine not running right. I think it is a fuel problem (from the fact that pulling out the choke makes it appear to run OK) and the advise already given by others is good. 1st thing to check is to make sure the fuel line is not getting pinched between the seat and the body. 2nd thing is to look in your gas tank with a flashlight and see if there is any rust, etc.on the bottom (from transferring gas from bad cans).

If you see signs of bad gas, drain your tank and get all stuff out (might have to take the tank out and blow dry it upside down to get all the stuff out), put in new gas, change your fuel filter and try some spray carb cleaner. If the spray stuff doesn't work you will have to take it apart (Brandon gave good directions) or take it to a BS service center.
