Can anyone tell me how an Argo handles in the snow without tracks. I probably won't be using it in snow deeper than 5". I am curious to know if I really need to put tracks on my 8x8 Argo Response. Also can you have tracks on the machine all year and what is the downfall of having tracks all year?

John Jr: 5" of snow is no problem for your Response without tracks.. I put tracks on mine last year because of the amount of snow received where I live. Prior to last year I didn't need them.

John: My Bigfoot does pretty well in packed snow without tracks, but bogs down quick in deep powder. I run a set of Tru-Trax and they are the only way to go when you're in the deep stuff. They came with ice cleats on them which are ok for the frozen stuff but dig in way too much on regular snow. The object is to stay ON TOP of the snow and the cleats dig a deep hole as soon as it loses a little traction. I took the cleats off but havent had enough snow yet to put the tracks on. The tracks really make the Argo snort when the snow is soft, it takes lots of power to turn them, especially when going up hill.
As far as running the tracks all year, I don't see a problem other than they ride rougher than the tires and rob some horsepower. Besides, it only takes half an hour to swap my big rawhides to the smaller ones (using an air impact wrench) and slap on the tracks.
By the way, here's the website of the rescue team that goes out and finds lost 6x6 drivers in this part of Oregon (be sure and sign thier guest book!):

Do you have any pictures of your Tru-Tracks setup? Many of us want tracks for winter, but the options from Argo and Max are really expensive! The Tru-Tracks website is dismal. Can you post any pics?
