i just replaced (eliminated!!) points and condenser on my jlo 295 engine..instead i install a cdi module (northern 701214-b951 at $ 10.49)..now spark looks as blue as alabama sky!!!.. also engine start easily with rope or electric.......overall performance is great even without spark advance mechanism.....
to get proper timming i rotated 90 degree to right the coils base ( the ones that hold the spark + light coil)...supress the black and the blue cable and pull out the black cable that came from spark coil....this cable goes to positive of cdi with the black cable that's goes to killing switch.... negative of cdi cable goes to positive terminal of seccondary coil ( where the blue cable used to go)....cdi housing get secured to air housing of engine and that's it!!!!now jlo engine get "update" with electronic ignition...i highly recoment this improvement......
