My ATTEX WONT START

First of all I'm getting gas to the carb,getting spark but wont start any help would great.. I'm just a newbee to the 6x6 world

make sure that the spark is happening when it is supposed to. also check to be sure that you have the right plugs and gap. this might be a good place to start.

HEY ATTEXYEARUNNOWN:

to start your engine you should have:

a) fuel on cylinder
b) good compression
b) good spark on right time

so check the follow:

a) do you have good quality gasoline?? ( no water or dirt on it???)

b) take out plugs and put over plug's hole your thumb...turn engine...if ok you should "feel" air pressure and warm air temp due to compression feature....

c) your spark is blue???yellow spark means bad spark plug, or coil, or point, or cdi (electronic module)...

if above check list is ok maybe your flywheel key is brocken and your engine loose proper timming...

Take an old contact solution bottle , clean it and fill it with fuel (and oil). This works very well to squirt it into the carb with the throttle wide open. That's how I got mine fired for the first time. I have the enricher valve on my carbuerators and it does not seem to help with the starting. Squirt some fuel into the carb and try it. If it doesn't start try it one more time. If it doesn't start after the second squirt, change the spark plugs and try it again.Hope it helps. If it does run for a little bit and dies after the squirted fuel runs out, I would pull the carb and look for dirt. If you pull the carb off and apart, check the float level also.

I assume this is a 2-stroke. First thing to do is get new spark plugs. A good engine will be junk when the plugs are fouled. My 440 wouldn't hit at all with the old plugs in it. I got some new plugs and it started right up.

well I've kind figured out that I'm not getting spark now, I was before but not now for some reason. I think I'm shorting out some where? what do you think??

* first replace spark plug

* open point section and pour wd-40...also file it a little to take our carbon

* check intermitent 6 volt from point cable to positive of coil when turning the engine

check coils and condition of plug wires (replace). start from the easy and work your way towards other possible larger troubles. often simple problems are overlooked. an atv shop can run a test to tell you for sure if your coils are bad. this won't help with a spark but it wouldn't be a bad idea to put in a new main and pilot jet. chances are that you'll need them.

Hello all and thanks for all the help. I found the problem , it was the spark plug wire there was no connection in the endcap the coil and points were all working correctly It realy runs great I also found that it is a 1968 300 Attex.

I figured it out... It was the spark plug end cap, thanks for all the help.I bugged every thing I could and that was the out come. It runs great, And I found that my machine is a 1968 300 attex with the JLO motor I was told it was a 340cc but I'm not sure of that.
