I picked up my 2005 conquest on friday and headed straight for the cottage. The new style steering works really well, especially the fact that you can steer with one hand. first impression was very good, mean looking machine (blue w/supertracks) ran very smoothly, fairly quiet, and enough power for what it's intended to do.
However.
-1 I noticed as the day went by that the gear shift lever was getting sloppy, and at the end of the day it was actually grinding and difficult to get in gear, till I finally ended up with e lever in my hand! there were 2 spring pins that hold the lever in place, both of them broke. lucky I was in front of the cottage when this happened and replaced them with 2 very snug fit cotter pins, and this weekend I will change them to two small hardened bolts, never loosen again.
-2 after playing all day on the lake I was getting tired of spinning and low traction due to all the bare spots on the ice, so I decided that I was going to install my ice cleats. 288 holes later my back was sore but I had to try out the cleats, drove down to the lake , and found that the cleats made no difference what so ever. even tried to climb a small hill onto shore, started spinning and slid back down! somehow when I was istalling them I couldn't see them working because they sit on the one and a half 1nch edge of an 18 inch track! there is no pressure at the cleats. Anyone else have this problem?
Overall I think It's a great machine and I'm happy with it.
