just bought track kit from RI,how big of a job (time). any pointers? i have a 2002 max2

I don't know about the kit from ri. but if it is anything like the tracks that came with my used argo vanguard(blow molded plastic with steel hinge pins and a steel connector plate with the same hinge pins to connect the track into a loop around the tires)it isn;t too bad a job providing you have an air source where you are putting them on. For the argo I lay the tracks out in front and dive onto themleave enough room to keep the connector plate at the front or rear so you have room to grt the pins in without hitting or working under the bodysoften the tires and pull whats left over th top of the tires put the pin through and tighten the set screw. refill the tires and go. have a good low pressure tire gauge and keep the connectors about the same place. a spare set of hands to hold the track halves in place while you put the pin through helps but not neccesary.Hope this helps. P.S the argo takes me about half hour by my self including taking them out of the shed and clean up when I park next to the air compressor.

Installing a track kit on a Max II takes a good six hours or better. Every axle must be pulled so the bearing cages can be installed. This is usually fairly smooth going on a newer vehicle. You just have to hope a set screw in one of your splined sprockets isn't seized up.
Once the entire kit is installed on your Max, putting the tracks on and taken them off is very quick. Deflate tires, roll tracks on, inflate tires.

Doug, I am installing a track kit on the three year old MaxII. I have found that backing the set screws out a little at a time and running them back in and degreasing the hole has prevented stripping them out. So far all have come out ok, be patient.

The axle outside the tub should be cleaned of rust and regreased before installing the locking collars and new bearing cage.

Take good measurements from at least two points so you can reposition the sprockets where you found them.

While I had the axles out I removed the bearing that attaches to the tub and re-sealed it.

Once you get one axle under your belt the others are all about the same. Take your time until you are confidient and you know the routine. It is taking me longer than six hours.
