As per: Bud Moore at Midwest Atv, " replace original Max metal vented gas cap and boil carb,"
The adjustments I made to my vanguard 16 H.P. Carb worked for awhile. The problem: (pulsating idle problem) returned. I removed the top of carb, removed float, neddle valve and found much debris such as, thick mud like substance along with, lots of crusted pieces of rust. How'd that get there I wonder? When I re-started, fuel/air adjustments returned and she runs just fine.Thanks to all who helped.Ed Lockwood.

ED: THAT'S WATER/RUST!!!ON METALLIC GAS TANKS GOES AS FOLLOW...
TEMPERATURE CHANGES MAKES CONDENSATION ON GAS TANK....SINCE GASOLINE IS LIGHTER THAN WATER THEREFORE THE WATER KEEP ON BOTOM OF TANK.....AND RUST START TO BUILD UP...SOLUTION.....ON 4 CYCLE ENGINES MAKE A 100:1 MIXTURE ON GASOLINE TANK WITH TWO CYCLE OIL...THIS PROPORTION DOESN'T FOUL SPARK PLUGS BUT KEEP RUST AND CARBON (ASHES)AWAY........ALSO CHECK FUEL FILTER FOR WATER/DIRT DEPOSIT ON IT............
