when did argo change from their mechanical brakes and transmission to the hydrostatic drive?
By Barry Williams (Barryhh3f) on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Argo has not changed their steering technology. The options are mechanical disk brakes or hydraulic disk brakes.

Barry, in a way your right, they havn't really changed the way the ARGO steers, except what you (the operator) use to steer it, as im sure you are aware, the old syle and some current models have the two levers with the throttle on the right- the new avenger uses a solid handlebar setup so that you only have one moving piece to operate the steering, throttle, and breaks. Actually, the new setup connects to the brake system almost the same way as the old except they added some part so that when you turn the handlebar, it activates the break like it would the old way, but now its much easier to drive the vehicle, you can actually use one hand to run the machine, its actually a little easier to relate to a car now, you turn something to steer, but you still have to get used to the skid steer factor- they also upgraded the disk they use on the breaks, they are now much bigger, vented and use bigger calipers and pads to control steering etc.

sorry- barry, i didn't read the first post before i read yours, Cameron, the hydrostatic drive is only used in the centaur machine by ODG. ARGO does not have this tranny yet- likely not to have it for a couple years- but their was talk about it at one time. I havn't heard the latest on it but they were focusing on the AVENGER and getting off the ground and working on a possible 6x6- however, they hadn't been working on that when i talked to Ron Bast last- back to your comment Barry, they did change the basic steering for the AVENGER, to handlebar from levers, but the other argo models still have the 2 levers, and from what he told me, they were going to stay that way for a while longer- but eventually upgrade the production models to something else
