Well, we've added 4 hours on the meter over the past weekend in our newly aquired 2001 Argo Bigfoot. As a newbie, I have some questions that the seasoned pro's may be able to answer.
1) Is there a better bulb/light I can use to give greater distance in the night? This is as oppossed to mounting a new light.
2) Has anyone experienced the difference in using a rubber track versus the plastic track? While flotation was very good, I did find that some hills were challenging and was wondering if a rubber track would be better.
3) Does anyone have plans for making their own canopy they can email me (or a used canopy for sale)?
4) Has anyone mounted a windsheild wiper onto the windsheild of an Argo?
That should keep me busy for a while.

Len you can have a top made at a locale textile repair shop cheaper thyan what you can get from the dealer. I was at the Sportman show in Toronto on the weekend and notice the new Avenger with a windsheild wiper. Argo has a wiper kit with everthing required to mount it. The part # 648-70 Windshield wiper kit. You can order this from your locale dealer.

To all who live anywhere near Toronto: The Cottage Life Show is comming up in a few weeks and the ARGO dealers are always there- good time to go see the AVENGER if you havn't already.

Len, yes, winshield wipers have been added to the windshield but it takes some work to get it so that the motor is not interfeering with anything and it may be hard to fold the windshild down with the wiper on it. Canopys can be made by most places that make covers for things. A simple solution you could use if you wanted was using a tarp (likely more than one) and making your own top for the ARGO. The only other thing I can think of for a wiper is a manual wiper that mounts on the top of the windshield and you turn a knob to move the wiper. That way you could maybe still fold the windshild down when you wanted to.

As far as the lights, if you can find a higher intensity bulb that works, that may work. I don't know what the newer ARGOs use but mine are horrible. Can barely see anything ahead of me. My lights aim low for some reason and I can't seem to get them adjusted so when I need to, i wedge some small thin pieces of wood under the bottom of the light to tip it up. Doesn't help much but makes it a bit better. IF im not mistaken, the new ARGOs light cover is flat against the body and has a rubber strip to make it water tight so I dont' think you can shove something in there. If you wanted super bright lights, you could always mount a q beam spot light on there and have a blinding light to guide your way. Havn't seen that done yet though.

Has anyone ever taken there machine up to the ganaskra forest area near Kirby Ontario. I hear there are over 10,000 acres to ride on. I think all the southern ontario riders should get together for a ride if not there and anyone knows of a spot please post it on here and maybe we can set something up

Bugaboo- yes, all of us Southern Ontarians should do a ride sometime- soon!! Where is Kirby anyways, never heard of it. Which side of Toronto is it on? North, SOuth, East or West?

David K. Kirby is about 25 mins. N.E.of Oshawa. Its about 15km. north of hwy.401 on 115 to cty.rd.9 and east.The Forest has aweb site so you can check it out.It is www.grca.on.ca. and yes a ride would be good fun.

If you all get together for a ride even this eastern Ontario guy will go. I am all was looking for places to ride and put my conquest to the test. I do not mind drive 3 or 4 hrs for a good ride.

I off road and the those trials are used by atv's riders as well. Some favourites are:

Minden - Hydro Line off Old Scotch Line - lot's of water this time of year. There is a trail that heads north to Hwy #118 that we have not been able to do in 4X4's as it is pretty marshy.

Cooper's Falls - east of Severn River of Hwy 11 - trail follows Black River and then across what I think is old CN/CP land. Again, lot's of water this time of the year.

I was thinking of trying the Ganaraska area sometime over the Easter week end depending on the weather.Like I said before I have never been up there before but I was told there is plenty of room to run. If anyone else is interested in getting together let me know and maybe we can set up a group ride for the day.

Hi iam looking for argo dealer on vancouver island i cannot seem to fine one i have a older raid trax that iwould to by a newer one .I cannot fine no dealers on the island heard of one in pollriver bc but i cannot confirm it

Hi, I'm a TOTAL Newbie, but I want in to the 6x6 club! I have a very steep road to the lake on my property and I was told that you can't steer a 6x6 when your braking. Is this true? How are you supposed to get down a steep hill? Please let me know as I WANT ONE ASAP.

gregory an older style attex with atv5000, or atv,6000, or atv7000 trany will work for you as well as amphicats wich are fetherable and can travel down hill safely
in adition to this some attex that use the t-20 trany also have disc brakes, verry much like thouse found on todays max vehicles, this disc brake brings max cloaser to safe in down hill situations,
argos do have a real low rainge wich is saposed to help.

Gregory, Whomever told you that, didn't know much about skid steer machines. You turn by braking so it is very easy to vary the amount of brake you apply to effect either a hard or an easy turn. Even an Argo turns easily going down hill. It is going up hill that some machines and people have a hard time, but with a little practice, anybody can drive a skid steer.

Skid steer machines are true all terrain machines and that means you can take them about anyplace including stuff so steep that most people would rather not go.

Yes you use your brakes to steer, but as Fred says it is easy to learn to turn on a hill. If it is a steep hill, and if you buy an Argo, you might want to use the Low gear on the hill until you get the feel for it. Going up an down hills is easy - I get uncomfortable before the machine starts having trouble. However, be careful running across the slope.
