Any one have the superwinch x-2 mounted on their argo with the selenoid remote too? Currently I have the dash mounted switch and I hate it, so I ordered the selenoid with the remote. My argo dealer wanted big $$ to install it and I found it cheaper on-line. I was wondering if anyone has argo conquest specific installation instructions I could get a copy of....if there is such a thing??? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!!

I was surprised that one of the messages suggested that the factory winch and mounting plate just bolt through the plastic. Is that right? Does the factory mounting plate not put steel on the inside of the Max? If not, is the body really strong enough to use the winch to pull the machine out of a mess? Also, is the winch RI sells the Warn or some cheaper product? Any help much appreciated.

Mark, I've wondered some of the same things. The winch is mounted to the plastic body and I can see it flex when I use the winch. I've pulled trees off the trail with the winch, and while the body flexes, it held and always comes back to the original position. The mount doesn't seem that good to me, I'd like to see it reinforced a bit.

I don't know if the factory is a warn or not however, my friend had his winch (2500super winch)mounted to his upper body (MAX 2) without a plate. He forgot to put his plugs in before going in water, had to remove water quickly, tied his winch hook high to a tree and lifted front and middle wheels with rear wheels barely touching ground to drain water. No problem. I probably would do some sort of support though.

any suggestions on the lightest rated winch that would work for a '79 Hustler. Thanks, Cliff

Superwinch X2 is a good winch that still has lots of power but won't leave a hole in your pocket.

Thanks David, I've been looking on e-bay and there's Warn A-2000s and some no name stuff in the 2500# range. The X2 looks kind of high to me. Do you really think I need a 3000# winch? I'm trying to balance one medium battery, an anemic alternator that will barely keep up with the headlights and weight, with enough pull to extract me from the goo 3 or 4 times a trip till I get home to the battery charger. Thanks again for your opinion. Cliff

A warn 2000 with a full spool of cable doesn't have the power to get my 8 wheeler out of a bad problem. However, using a snatch block to double the pulling power will get me out of anything.
