I recently got an older (probably one of the first) 6 wheel drive atvs. I'm not sure exactly what brand it is and neither is the person I got it from. I am thinking it may be a maxx. Anyway, it has a single cylinder, 2 stroke, Kohler engine. But the flywheel cover is missing and I can't find any numbers on the engine or the body of the machine. I'm not sure what the mixture is for the gas/oil. Also except for the rear, primary drive chains, I see no adjustment for the chain tension. the front chains are extremely loose. But I got the rear chains that run off the transmissions adjusted with no problem.. also how tight should the drive belt be? I would appreciate any advice, tips, or answers in figuring out this machine! Thanks....

I agree. Sounds like a Trail Boss. They have 2 trannys, and adjustment is only for the primary drive chains off the trannys. Kohlers were the stock engines. Check out the pictures on this site. If it is a Trail Boss, check out my new website at www.trailbossatv.homestead.com. I just bought one myself, and would be interested in corresponding. Thanks

Is this trail boss Made by Bombadier.I may have one. It has a Bomdadier emblem On the front of the tub. The motor however is a 500cc Bombadier Snowmobile motor. I am sure it is not original. Looking for any and all information about this unit.
