Chatter when turning

I have a 2000 MaxIV 600T.

I'm running Mobile 1 in the T20.

When I turn by applying moderate brake, I get what I believe to be brake band chatter. Full brake and it turns quitely. Moderate brake, chatter. No brake, quitely. Happens on both sides in either forward or reverse. It also seems to take more pressure than it originally did to brake and stop.

Any suggestions? Go back to standard ATF? Should I add a friction modifier?

Thanks

I hope you are using Mobile 1 transmission fluid and not oil. There is already another discussion on the effects of oil/gear lube in a T-20.
Chatter is normal in the T-20 just as you describe. RI has an additive that should cure this problem. It is a differential additive and it did wonders in my '99 Max II.

Brett

Just add 4oz of Chevy Corvette rear end additive, available
at most any local auto parts house

BRETT YOU SHOULD USE TYPE F TRANS FLUID ONLEY AND TO STOP THE CHATTER BUY A 2 OZ BOTTLE OF LIMITID SLIP DIFFERENTAIL ADATIVE FROM A FORD DEALER AND THAT WILL FIX YOUR PROBLEM GOOD LUCK

Brett, I think you are not getting the same abilities from your Mobil 1 and it doesn't have the grip that ATF has. I'd go back to ATF - use the Ford stuff and if you don't like the aggressiveness of the grip, add some friction modifier. I'm afraid if you added friction modifier to your Mobile 1 that you might not have any grip at all.

I know a lot of machines are out there using Dextron III without any modifier and just live with the tranny chatter. I kind of like hearing the machine talk to me.

Moving to Type F solved the problem. I didn't need to add any Limited Slip Differential Fluid Additive.

I looked in the Owner's manual and couldn't find a requirement to use Type F. Maybe I missed it.

But . . . THANK YOU GUYS FOR YOUR EXPERT HELP!!!!!
