I have somethin thats been bugging me for a while now, I just havn't remembered to ask. On my ARGO at the back, just about an inch below the rubber bumper think that goes over the two body halves, on the left side, there is a little white think that looks like a plastic bolt or something like that. What is it? What does it do? and why is it there? I have seen it on other ARGOs before, just never really asked about it.

Anyone know?

It is probably the fuel breather. This is used so that a vacume will not be createdd in the gas tank.

Is it your bilge pump outlet? White plastic with a hole in the middle? That would explain why all ARGO's don't have it as it is an option.....

It;s an air line that goes to your gas tank so your tank doesn't go under vaccum when your machine is running.

I think you are talking about the gas tank vent.

Its the overflow for the fuel tank fill neck.

That's the opening for a fuel tank breather line. There's a plastic tube running from that fitting over to the fuel tank fill pipe

Thanks for the replys- now i know- what is the argo is in water though- back end weighed down and that thing is submerged? what happens?

My Argo is bow heavy, so the breather is sitting high. However, if you are too tail heavy, or back down a steep bank, you could dunk the breather opening. Hold it under long enough while running the engine and I suppose you could suck water into the gas tank. In practical terms I would not wory about it. Remember that Argo 6's are rated at 350 lbs in the water, while the 8's are rated at 700 lbs. Stick close to those limits and you should not have a problem. (The tube arches high on the Argo sides so catching a wave on the stern won't cause a problem. Even if a little water runs in it will run out again.)

DO NOT try to take the tube off inside the hull, though. Gas fumes can come out of the breather. Gas fumes are heavier than air and can fill up the hull if your drain plugs are in. Gas fumes plus a spark from the starter or brake fan can ruin your day.
