i bought a 6x6 for 600.00 recently. i believe from what i have read on this site that it is an amphicat, but it has a lloyd ls4oo engine made in west germany. i have seen no referance to this engine anywhere. also the only marks i can find on the trans. are the number 510682 and the date 5-17-68. it has a foot pedal for reverse and six hydraulic pistons on the front.the carb is a tillotson. did this combination exist from a factory? or is it transplanted? also, is it actually an amphicat? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Check the museum on this site as well as blast from the past. You should be able to find it. Where are the headlights? If they're below the belt, its probably an Amphicat.

David, the body has no cracks or holes and overall appears to be in great shape. i know now that the lloyd is not original, but runs decent for about 5 minutes, then it seems to bog down. i dont know if this is caused by too much fuel or not enough.[the carb is a tillotson].also it does not seem to turn like it should. any information on the bogging problem or trans adjustments that may help the turning would be a great help.this is the first 6 wheeler i have ever seen up close much less worked on. i am kind of hooked on them already! thanks you guys for the help so far.
