If you go and look at the pictures on the www.ARGO.com website you will see how the tires are orientated. Properly positioned, they are meant to act as paddles in water, not as self-cleaning snow tires. RawhideIII Tires work better in snow. Good luck.

Can't say how they work when reversed, but when I had them off I figured out a way to remember which way they come stock.
If you look at them from the side:
on the left side, the tread spirals right/clockwise
on the right side, the tread spirals left/counter clockwise

I had them in the wrong way when I bought the Argo used.
It simply sucked in water! It would barely go foward... Probably much better in mud too, but will try it this summer...
The way they have it is to push the water/mud under the tires(good in water but in mud???). The other way arround pushes the water/mud away and digs in deeper... Its a good way to get stuck.
What I heard though is to put the rear tire on backwards so it will grab better if you drive in reverse to get out of the water for ex. Directional tires are great one way but suck in reverse...
