I just got a used 18hp Max IV shipped in from North Carolina to Louisiana. Apparently, the previous owner was elderly and didn't feel like riding much anymore. Its a 2000 model with about 40 or so hours. Today I tried my hand at driving it through my duck lease today. While on a highline I passed through a small slough that just had wet mud. I have the 26" tires and apparently the mud was deeper than 13" with no bottom I pushed right up on the bottom of the unit and grounded out wheels spinning. Well I don't have a wench yet so I had to get out that was fun in the stinking mud in 98 degree weather. I got it out and was a big smelly mess. Any ideas as how to better traverse soft mud? What should my tire pressure be? And best of all what are some of the best retrival tips I almost walked it over myself while giving it gas and pulling from the front. I want to better be able to traverse the marsh and am open to operation tips. All of your expertise is welcomed.

hey there Rob;same way here in upstate new york in the places that i ride in river deltas and such. Deep sucking mud and wet marsh are all in my reggular rides. and if it looks bad in a md situation don't let your wheels spin but at the same time don't lose forwad moementum . If you do bottem out and your wheels spin stand up, spred feet out and rock side to side while giving it gas it happens in snow that way also , bottuming out , i would keep a small shovel
on bord but i never dug my way out of mud . keep a cel phone handy, and a tow rope .
