How good is the Max IV in Deep soft sand?
By Fred Sowerwine, Montana's Max Dealer (Fred4dot) on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
I am assuming you mean deep dry sand: With tracks, I think they will go anywhere except up a dune with a corniced top. With the 26" tires they go very well but cannot climb the long really steep stuff. Use of the throttle is very important (as it is in mud and snow) and you can spin holes pretty quickly. In deep wet sand, kinda like quick sand (like a creek bottom, wide river) you might not make it and those conditions are the hardest for a max (and any vehicle), but rest assured that if a max (with an experienced operator) won't go, nothing else will.
The trick to getting through soft stuff is to keep your load to a minimum, have as much contact area as possible with your tires, keep your tire air pressure low and don't let your tires spin. With a max and aggressive tread tires, if you don't dig holes, you can always back out and try another area.
