i want to race

Bryan,
I read about all the races & organizations they had back in the 70's. And I think why not now? It seems except for the Humphrey & Badlands runs there's not much else out there. We should try to band together & set sometjing up. I guess we could use the Owner Registry to determine where the largest grouping of 6x6's are & go from there.

I am all up for racing!!! Name the place and they will come. I think the older machines with new modern 3 cyl. 2 strokes would be a blast!!! A person can find a nice 2 srtoke in a wrecked sled pretty resonable. Thats what I would do. Matt

I will try and post the Old NATVA Racing rules tomorrow. The rules set up classes and safety standards. The critical issues today will be the safety aspects of the machines. The worst thing that would happen is someone gets badly hurt at the start of this program.

I could not post the NATVA Rules file on the board but e-mailed them to Petec to post.

Name the date and location and i will be there. Someone should step forward to start a new racing league. I hope that someone will have the ingenuity and brains to do it sometime soon though. we should start figuring out where the most all terain vehicle owners are located (and contact then to see if they are interested in participating) and then work on some good racing locations. I wish there were an easy way to find everyone that wants to help/participate....

What type of machine do you have to race? PeteC is having some drags at his Spring Fling in NJ.

Does anyone know where to find a listing of places to race in different states? I am very interested in learning where everyone goes, especially interested in North Carolina or surrounding area.
Thanks,
Terry

Hi, Terry
I don't think there are any official races any more, but there are several clubs that list on this site the trail rides and weekend get-togethers that they still put on. I'm sure there's some unofficial racing going on from time to time whenever you get that many six-wheelers together. Maybe there will be enough interest to get NATVA style racing started again- there's been a lot of talk about it lately.

I remember seeing pics of racing on the Beach in Atlantic City, NJ during ther fall when the beach isn't as crowded (years ago 70's). Sand would seem to be more forgiving if you rolled it. But who will let you on their beach, especialy to race? Mud bogging could be fun, but that would probably need to be on private land. Possibly we should set up a database of State beaches you can ride on legally.

Just wondering if anyone remembers the track in Astabula, OH and the Fischers. I am still racing at this track and have been since the hayday back in the 70's. We still have a modified RIM with the bucket seat and the roll bars. My cousin and I are going to restore this winter. We are not racing 6 wheelers there anymore but we are running 4 wheelers. This track has changed very little in the last 30 years and Bill still runs 2 AMA GNC races there a year. If enough people are interested I could approach him about a six wheeler race there I would have to be sure we had enough racers to cover the insurance costs. I am familier with the costs as my partner and I put on 5 CRA sanctioned dirt bike and 4 wheeler harescrambles a year.
