So after 2 years of "should I or shouldn't I get an Argo" I finally took the plunge, went to my dealer and ordered a 2005 Conquest, my dilema was finally over right?.... WRONG! I figured between all my current ins. policies someone will cover it but apparently, my Auto insurer will not do ATVs, but does my snowmobiles, my house/cottage/boat insurer does not do ATVs, finally found one today (state farm) that will insure the Argo....but only if I change my Auto over to them at a $400 premium higher that I'm paying now, plus $700 for the Argo OUCH! anyone in Ontario had the same problem?

Ed, our argo has never been insured and its never been a problem. Unless your concerned about loss in fire or flood or likewise, nobody will enforce it- I am also in Ontario- Toronto - where are you?
As far as insuring for other passengers, if you drive it the way its supposed to be driven, nobody gets injured and nobody needs to file a claim.

I suppose any kind of loan would require insurance?

My two reasons for insurance is because my cottage is on an Island, the argo will sit in a field during the week so I can just hop in and cross the lake, and I'm not prepared to lose $17000, and secondly I financed half of it so yes insuranse is required for the finance co.

ED. I called my insurance broker a few years back and it was the same thing for a Max. The premium was not as high as yours. If you do ride on the road it is agrey area as some places allow atv's and others don't.The other problem with aatv's is the insurance co. and the ministry of transport haven't decided as to what these are classed as.

YOU SHOULD HAVE HAD THE ARGO LAST YEAR DURING PETERBOUROUGH,S FLOOD DISASTER. I WAS ALREADY
DEALING WITH COOPERATORS FOR HOUSE TRUCK AND
BOAT INSURANCE WHEN I GOT MY MAX IV.NO TROUBLE
EXCEPT THAT THEY INSURE IT AS AN ATV FOR LIABILITY FIRE AND THEFT AND COLLISSION BUT NOT WHEN BEING USED AS A BOAT. I CAN LIVE WITH THAT
BUT IF SOMEONE OFFERED MORE COMPLETE COVERAGE
I WOULD HAVE TO LOOK AT IT. I HOPE YOU,VE AT LEAST GOT A TIN SHED IN THAT FIELD. WISH YOU
LUCK. W.PHILIP
